Wednesday 5/1/13 God Still Heals (3)

Dear Father in Heaven, Thanks for waking us this morning and thanks for helping us to get out of bed and get moving.  Thanks for looking after us overnight.  I love You, Jesus, and I want to get to work for You this day.  Help us do that, please protect this line, please watch over all those who use it.  Please, Lord, be in the City of Harrisburg and help them with all the problems they have.  And Lord, please help me and all the others on the Capitol steps on Saturday when we salute our troops.  Lord, please be with our military and please bring them home safe and soon.  In Jesus' Name I pray.  Amen.

Today is Wednesday and what a beautiful day it is.  May day, May 1st, and the sun is up and beaming down onus here at the Southern Location of the North Pole.  At one time we called Wednesday, Salvation Wednesday, and then I sort of moved it to Friday.  I am thinking we need to go back to that mid-week Salvation Wednesday, because we must keep praying for the unsaved and to work the fields of Harvest for our Lord Jesus.  Let's face it, folks, the best healing we can have is to have our soul healed.  So pray for the unsaved and for God to use us to help bring in the lost.  At some time or other all of us wanted to be a "farmer", at least until we found out how hard the work was.  Just think about this, the fields of Harvest are ready, for the crops to be brought in and Jesus needs our help.  Let's get "farming for God."  No one said this will be easy, but with the Lord as our supervisor and Savior, the work should be interesting and fun.

When I was but a child, I can remember that we had mid-week services at church and they were called prayer meetings.  Mom would go and I had to go along.  Some songs were song, and prayers were offered up by many and I was bored.  (Confession, folks.)  Then I got involved with the teens and we had some fun and I was only a tad bored (more confessions.)  Then a lady came to prayer meeting and she brought her daughter along, wow, was she pretty (the daughter, folks.)  Then I was not bored anymore, in fact I just wanted it to be Wednesday.  Now, folks, I am getting up in years, the streets have been paved, and repaved, and it is time I am working harder and harder for the Lord.  We all need to be putting in more time for the Lord.  We who are tired should never retire from working for God.  In fact in our retired years we have more time to work for Him.  So how about it, folks, time to roll  up our sleeves and get out in those fields of Harvest for Jesus and start "farming for God."  Seems to me there should be a message title in that one.  Now let me get to the message today.  God Still Heals.

God Still Heals:  (Day 3)

2 Kings 2:19 - The men of the city said to Elisha, "Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive."  20 "Bring me a new bowl," he said, "and put salt in it."  So they brought it to him.  21 Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it saying, "This is what the Lord says:  'I have healed this water.  Never again will it cause death or make the land underproductive.'"  And the water has remained wholesome to this day according to the word Elisha had spoken.  (NIV)

This scripture today like the one yesterday shows us that God does not just heal people but yesterday we saw He will heal the land of those who humble to Him.  Today we see Him healing the well with salt.  Notice something about that and today.  We are on a well and we have our own water, but it was not pure and it was hard, so we put in a "water softener" and what do they use to clear the water?  Salt.  Brothers and sisters, I am telling you that if we all would take our Bibles and read them and follow them we would son find out that we have the very best instruction book you could get and it teaches us all we need to know about living and getting along with others.  All we need to know about healing, healing water and land and healing of our own bodies.  Here we find Elisha being obedient to our Lord and following The Lord's instructions to heal a well.

I now want to go to Psalm 107 and look at a few verses.  This will show us that even those who have addictions, brought on by their own selves that God will  heal them and bring them back from the gates of death.

Psalm 107:13 - Then they cried to the Lord in trouble, and He saved them from their distress.  14 He brought them out of darkness and the deepest gloom and broke away their chains.  15 Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love, and His wonderful deed for men.  15 For He breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron.  17 Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities.  18 They loathed all the food and drew near the gates of death.  19 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress.  20 He sent forth His word and healed them.

When I look at this scripture I think about our one son.  Yes, as in many families, we have one who got mixed up with drugs and booze, and even though he loves the Lord and is Born Again,he would just turn away from God and go back under the power of  Satan's junk food.  (My term for drugs and booze, Satan's junk food.)  There were many times that our son would be down and cry out for help and God would help him or send him help.  Often he was healed for awhile and then went back to Satan's junk food.  Then he was at the bottom, down where he was put out of his last apartment with no place to go but under a bridge in a box.  We helped him before and over and over again, this time we needed to let God do it all.  God, who never left his side, picked him up and found him a mission to live in.  A good one out in the country where it is not as easy to get to Satan's junk food.

It has been nearly a year and he is doing well.  He might get a chance to go on staff at the mission.  It is so sad that we let ourselves get to the bottom and go there more than once, but God will  heal, and folks, our son was brought up in the way of the Lord and there is a promise, that if we raise our kids in the way of the Lord and they drift, they will come back.  Please keep praying for our son Matthew who now has been asked to leave that mission home and has been in the Holy Spirit Hospital since the first week of November. Please teach your children about Jesus and keep them away from Satan's junk food.

And just approved yesterday was the morning after pill (abortion pill), now being sold over the counter at drug stores for anyone 15 years of age and older.  In other words, our children are now permitted to murder at the age of 15 and it is called abortion and it is legal.

So today, let's go to prayer and pray for all  those and I would think there are some on this line, pray for those who fight Satan's junk food or other addictions.  Also we need to pray for those living in homes where someone is fighting that sickness for often those folks suffer abuse, either verbal or even being beat around.

Dear Father in heaven, first today we want to pray for the lost and ask that You use us to bring them to Your feet to be saved.  Lord, we also ask today that You help those with addiction and that You get them off the junk and get them back to living for You.  Lord, we want to help You with that also so show us  how to help.  Even when it is in our families sometimes we try and help and fail and then there are times when we must show tough love to them.  Guide us, Lord, and heal them from the addictions.  And Lord, again I ask that You heal my wife, she has so much pain, Lord, and she wants to push forward with and for You.  She needs You, Lord.  Thanks for the work on my knees and thanks for the water for our wells and rivers.  In the name of Jesus, I pray.  Amen.

Now, brothers and sisters, go forth enjoying this day and sharing your blessings with others, and tell them you love them and to pass it on.  Love ya (pass it on.)

Pastor Dan
