Monday 5/20/13 Christian Responsibilities 6

Good Evening, Dear Father in Heaven, thanks for a beautiful day and thanks for taking care of us this day.  Father in Heaven, please be with Jodi and help her locate a job.  Be with Dick and touch those lungs so he might be able to move air in and out.  Please be with all those folks who have lost their  homes in the midwest.  Help my buddy Grant, dear Lord, and please help Curtis and keep him calm.  Father, help our son Matthew as he moves from the hospital into a home in Carlisle, PA.  Lord, thanks for Carry The Light Ministry and please be with all those who come in for help.  Now, dear Father, please help me with the message.  In Jesus' name, Amen.

Brothers and sisters, something new is coming to this line, and I am going to get it going today.  I am going to call it "Pastor Dan's Safety Tip."  After many, many years in School Transportation and going through courses to train drivers and teach safety, I feel I am letting God down by not using the talent He has loaned to me.  Maybe by giving a safety tip each day it might save a life or two.  I am going to keep them short and just have one a day.  Please pray for that.  Please pray also for Dick Mowery, for Jodi for a job, for Bobbie's back.  Pray for Grant and also Curtis.  And brothers and sisters, please pray for our son Matthew, who is being discharged from the hospital, where he has been since the first week in November, tomorrow, off to a halfway house in Carlisle, PA.  Now a safety tip and then to the message, Christian Responsibilities.

"Pastor Dan's Safety Tip."  Put the phone away and drive!!

Monday May 20, 2013 - Christian Responsibilities, Day Six.

Romans 12:18 - If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.  19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written, "It is mine to avenge, I will repay," says the Lord.  (NIV)

Brothers and sisters, we are told to live as peaceful people.  In the Beatitudes, Jesus tells us this ...

Matthew 5:9 - "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God."  (NIV)

We who are true believers are to cultivate peace.  So what does that mean to me to cultivate peace?  Well, for that, let me take you way back to when I was a child, and in the summer I would go to my Uncle Les and Aunt Romaine's home.  They lived on a farm and had two children, Martha and John.  Please pray for my Aunt Romaine, she is my last remaining Aunt, my Uncles are all gone.  Anyway, they lived on this farm and I remember Uncle Les taking me out on his big green tractor, I believe it was a John Deere.  He had planed corn seeds and as it would grow, he would put the cultivators on the tractor and go and cultivate the rows of corn.  So how do I relate that now to being a peaceful person?  We need to plant seeds for our Lord Jesus, seeds of love and seeds of faith in Jesus.  Then as we do this, we need to work in the area where we planted the seeds of love and faith and cultivate them.  By telling others of this "Good News" about our Lord Jesus, our plants will grow, and if we work these right for our Lord, we, like my dear late Uncle Les, will be able to Harvest the Crop, only he was harvesting corn, and we would be harvesting people for Jesus.  Now let me take this a tad more.  When Uncle Les would plant one seed, he would get two ears of corn on a plant, and how many kernels of corn are on an ear of corn?  I do not know, but you have eaten an ear of corn.  Now as we harvest or bring in the lost for the Lord, those who become "Born Again" should go out into the fields and work to bring in more.  Do you see where I am coming from?

Romans 12:19 - Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written, "It is mine to avenge, I will repay," says the Lord.  (NIV)

In this scripture, we are told not to take revenge, or in my words, not to try and get even with someone who did something to you that might have upset you.  You are to pray about it and let God take care of it for you.  We are to forgive and to love all people, even those who are enemies.  And brothers and sisters, I have friends that say, "we have an all-loving God," but brothers and sisters, we just do not want to stand in the way when God takes revenge.  Think about this, God, the one who caused that really big flood, is Jesus.  For that I want to take you to ...

John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.  2 He was with God in the beginning.

John 1:14 - The Word became flesh, and made His dwelling among us.  We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.  (NIV)

So to wrap this up today, you can see that the One who caused the big flood is the same as our Lord Jesus who will bring His wrath on those He will choose.  So folks, stay into His Word and follow in His footsteps. And spread His Love and let Him, Jesus, take care of the enemy.  Amen.

Dear Lord, please bless the message and cause it to travel the airwaves.  And Lord, please be in Oklahoma and comfort them.  In Jesus' Name, I pray.  Amen.

Now go forth sharing your blessings, and please remember our picnic Date, Saturday, July 6th.  By the way, we are trying to bring Tim Beitzel back to sing again this year.  You do remember that rich bass/baritone voice, right?  Love ya.  Pass it on.

Pastor Dan
