Thurs/Fri. 5/23-24/2013 Memorial Day

Dear Father in Heaven, where do I start praising You this day, where do I start?  You have trusted us to do Your work, and You have been so faithful to us.  Jesus, You walked each step with us and carried us when we could not walk.  Lord, all praise and honor to You today and forever.  Thanks, Lord, please be with those people who are suffering so much in the mid-west and help all who are trying to help, like the first responders, the Guard Units from those areas, the linemen and all of them that I cannot even remember.  Hold those tight that lost it all, and help more people come to You and stay with You.  Now, Lord, if once again You would  help me with a message I would appreciate it.  All glory is Yours.  Please touch the paper and have the history init come out as it should.  Again, all glory to You in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

"Pastor Dan's Safety Tip."  "Keep a safe following distance."  Traffic will be heavy on this holiday weekend, sort of like it is daily at peak times.  It is hard to keep a safe distance because when you get a distance between you and the car in front of you, some other driver will surely cut in front of you and take away that distance.  Jut cut back and get your distance, I like the 4 second rule, it is for the bigger vehicles.  If you do not know about the counting method to keep that distance, please call me and I will go over it with you.  717 991 0754.

Good morning, my dear brothers and sisters.  God is so good, so very good.  If you get the Carlisle Sentinel, please check the Faith section today, Friday, May 24.  Please pray the story comes out as interviewed.  There is to be a history of Carry The Light Ministries going back to how we started.  The reporter was talking with me on the phone for over an hour as I did my best to remember.  I do not want to go over that with you today, as you can red it for yourself.  I do want to talk to you about the events of Thursday and how they unfolded.  Let me talk first about the message.

Memorial Day 2013

John 15:13 - "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."  (NIV)

2 Chronicles 7:14 - If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  (NIV)

Monday, May 27th, is when Memorial Day is observed this year.  Memorial Day really falls on May 30th and this is our wedding anniversary.  (I have no excuse for forgetting.)  We use this holiday to salute our veterans who have gone on before us.  At one time this day was called something else, do any of you know what it was called?  You will more than likely pick that up from my writing today.  My scriptures today mean so much and we need to look at them.

John 15:13 tells us there is no greater love than to lay down your life for a friend.  We know without a doubt that Jesus laid down his life for all of us, not one of us, but all of us.  He laid down His life so we could be cleaned of our sins and the stains of our sins.  We know this both because it is history, folks, it is recorded in our Bibles, and if we have faith in Jesus, it is recorded in our hearts.

Over the years many, many men and women of our armed forces have laid down their lives for us.  Yes, for us.  If it were not for the men and women of our Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guards, and Merchant Marines, we might not have that free speech or even the freedom of using a computer without someone looking over it.  We also  have many, many others over the years who laid down their lives for us, and I am talking police, firefighters, all first responders.  We also need to remember all those were WILLING to lay down those lives.  Again, Veterans of all the branches of our military, and of course the others I mentioned.  So if they have gone on before us, we need to remember them also.

But let me go deeper into this, as Memorial Day is also a day to decorate the graves of all of our loved ones who have gone on before us.  So today I just want to say thank you to all both living and deceased who had anything to do with this country safe and free, and to those who helped shape all of us into what we are today.  And we want to remember that those in the military today all signed up on their own free will to serve.

Also this day as we look around us, we need to only look around us to see the shape our country is in and we need to come back to God, so let me repeat the scripture from above.

2 Chronicles 7:14 - If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Brothers and sisters, we need to return to God as a country and we need to do it now, as in right away.

Now let me tell you some amazing events of Thursday.  Up in the morning as normal, very early to take care of animals.  Then Grant and Wanda had arrived with a big pot of soup for our lunch after our sing-along.  They had lost phone service at their home, and some concerns were on their minds.  We boarded our vehicle and off to The Bridges for a gospel music "sing-along" which the flock at The Bridges loves.  There we teamed up with Pamela so our ministry team was all together for the sing-along.  We also had Martin along, our trusted and senior Yorkie.  When finished we all came back to our food pantry where we often gather for eating after the sing-along.  While eating, one of our family members came by for food.  We asked her if she would join us for lunch.  She refused, but told us to please finish before we got her food.  Hold with me now.  A photo journalist from the Carlisle Sentinel stopped in to take pictures for the story that will be in the paper today.  Although we had food packed for this family, he wanted us to pack so he could take pictures.  The young lady here for food gave permission to the journalist to be in pictures.  So our team packed as this man took pictures.  After praying with the lady and anointing her with oil, her food was loaded into her car and she was on the way.  It gets better, folks.  After talking with "Mike," the journalist, for awhile we witnessed to him about Jesus and he told us that he had drifted and never returned to any church after being raised by Jehovah's Witnesses parents.  Long story, but before he left he was anointed with oil and hands were laid on this man to come to Jesus.  What a great day.  We again went to the table to finish our meal as we had ice cream and cake waiting for Pamela's birthday.  She will be, oops, never mind that one.  While sitting there I dialed Grant and Wanda's home to get the recording machine and it was working.  Their phones were back online.  Now I must finish this story because it gets better, so hang in thee with me.  Dolores had messed her leg up a few days ago and when I looked at it after we came up from the food pantry I decided she needed to go to the doctors, so she called and was given an evening appointment.

In the meantime, I went to the computer to get this message out and the computer crashed out, and I mean a hard crash.  I could not get it to come up and figured all was gone.  So I shut it down and we headed out to the doctors, leaving Marvin and Missy, our trusted indoor cats, our in the dog yard, they just would not come in.  Off to the doctor, and I thought for sure we were going to be sent to the hospital.    Jesus got there first, and we did not need to go to the hospital, and a scrip was called into our local Giant.  So on the way home I stopped for the scrip and it was ready.  While there I picked up a few things and when I came out of the store a storm was coming in.  We were going to stop and get a sandwich but we headed home, arriving before the storm hit.  Dolores got out of the car and went in, opened the door for the cats and in they came.   I put the car in the garage and then the storm hit. We did not get a drop of rain on us (nor did the cats).  After coming in the house, I went to this computer and opened it up after praying and cheering on the Lord.  It opened slowly and came back to life.  GOD IS GOOD AND IS STILL IN CONTROL.

Regardless of where you are in life, TRUST IN GOD.  He is in control.

Thank You, Jesus, for all You do for all of us all the time.  Please now deliver this message to where it is to go.  In Jesus' name, I give thanks also unto our Father in Heaven.  Amen.

Now go forth and share your blessings and serve the Lord.  Love ya.  Pass it on.

Pastor Dan

See you on Monday.
