Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever. To the one who remembered us in our low estate. His love endures forever. And freed us from our enemies. His love endures forever. And who gives food to every creature. His love endures forever.
Happy, Happy Tuesday, brothers and sisters. Wow, another day, boy, do they seem to fly past. I look back at my days at John Harris High School, in Harrisburg, Pa., back when the old dead sea was still just sick, and the streets were dirt, and I can still remember that old clock on the wall. If my memory serves me right we were dismissed from school at 3:05 PM. In my home room beside the clock hung a sign that read, time will pass, will you? Oh, how slow that clock would move, I would count down the seconds and when the bell rang, out the door to my Hotrod Ford and off to work so I could afford that 18.9 cents per gallon gas. Then I graduated from school (surprise I made it) and the clock went into high gear, in fact, we now use the clock as a big fan (kidding about that one). But really, does it not seem like we just got out of school yesterday? So many things have changed, so many.
Hey, it is Tuesday and the day we pray for people to be healthy, pray for them not to worry, pray for people to pray and come to God. God is love, and as noted above His Love endures.
Please keep praying for Vicki for her health issues. And please pray for the one who has had some heart related issues and pray for her husband also for breathing problems. I have been asked to please pray but not to post names. God sorts it out, folks.
No Worries: Day 2: Psalm 136:1 - Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever. 2 Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever. 23 To the one who remembered us in our low estate. His love endures forever. 24 And freed us from our enemies. His love endures forever. 25 And who gives food to every creature. His love endures forever. (NIV)
In my opening I remarked about that when I was back in school, and something about my Hotrod Ford. Things have changed so much, gas was just under 19 cents per gallon, my hotrod was a flathead V8 that got over 20 miles per gallon. Schools were good and people cared for each other. Things were nice, houses had locks that used keys that fit each house and your milkman would put the milk in the fridge if you wanted him to. Trash was collected and put in land fills, garbage (food stuffs) were picked up by the garbage man and fed to hogs, and those ashes were stored to put on the bottom of our hill we sledded on. Most things were different, very different. We never had a TV until I was in Junior High School and of course it was black and white and we had Rabbit Ears on top of the set. You had one telephone in the house, and more than likely it was a party line. (Yes, we listened in to our neighbors, what else could a brat like me do?) You wore hand-me-down clothes, and our parents would can things from the garden and then trade with friends. Neighbors helped each other, and a young lady in school by the name of Patricia Wells helped me daily with my homework or I would still be in school watching the clock.
Well, things changed, and changed and changed and with that came higher costs, why, gasoline went all the way up to about 50 cents per gallon by the late 60's and bread was nearly a quarter a loaf. And as things grew and grew and changed and changed those worries and heartaches started to kick. Divorce rates were on the rise, more than likely, and this is my thinking, because for the first time men and women were working side by side in the work place. Things sure have changed but one thing for sure... HIS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER. Yes, by all means, please read, yes, please read Psalm 136.
And I love this one also...
Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (NIV)
Folks, things change, we change, prices change, looks change, food changes, everything changes except for one thing... OUR GOOD LORD and let's look at it again...
Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
And in Psalm 136: HIS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER.
Now some of the really neat things and we will get into more and more of them this week which should help you not to worry... First, God knew us before, I said before, we were in the womb, and God knows how many hairs we have on our head. (He has more to count on my head than Pastor Larry's but that again is changing as for Him to keep track of mine He must check out my brush.)
God knows everything about each and everyone of us, He knows all of our sins and all of our good deeds, and regardless of which He is looking at, HE LOVES US AND THAT WILL NOT CHANGE, FOR and you remember this right... HIS LOVE ENDURES FOREVER.
Dear Father in Heaven, I am so glad You never change, I have changed so often and You have never failed me, even when I have failed you. You have loved me when I drifted and You were there for me when I came back, and while I was drifting You watched over me and you did the same for all of us. When You send the rains it rains on the garden of the ones who love You and the ones who hate You, because You love us all... I just want to say this to You and pray all of the readers today want to say it also... Thanks, God, for never changing and thanks for watching over me when I change... Please be with Vicki and her family... in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Now go forth and share your blessings, share your love of Jesus with others... I love ya, Pastor Dan.
