"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"
Good Monday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. Starting today and each Monday we are going to change the base prayer line to praying for our country. Up till now we have prayed for our leaders, military, police, firefighters, etc., and that will not change, just the name so I don't need to type it all out each week. In case you have not noticed our country has been slipping away from God. Things are happening very fast. People who are willing to go to work are expected to give to those who just plain don't go to work, and while we are to help the needy, the Bible tells us very clear when a person refuses to work they SHOULD NOT EAT. And have you seen what is going on in Philadelphia, gangs of youths, watch their cell phones, or blackberries and when the word is given, a gang, a huge gang will go to a certain location and kick and beat people. Yes, a gang of many beating on one person they do not know. Lord Jesus, help this Nation and our peoples.
No Worries: Day one: Matthew 6:25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes. 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" (NIV)
I have found over the years one of the very hardest things that God wants us to do, or really not to do, is "worry". Just give your cares over to the Lord and let the Lord help you deal will them. Yet we worry, and worry can cause major stress, and stress can cause other problems, and then we go to the doctors and they put us on medications which do funny things to our heads and cost us a lot of money and give us SOMETHING MORE TO WORRY ABOUT. If I would make a list of things that people worry about it might read like this, maybe not in this order, but most would have some of these things on their lists.
Parents worry about their children, some children worry about their aging parents. People worry about money or the lack of it, having enough to pay the bills and put food on the table. My daddy used to say, I need to work to keep a roof over our heads and put food on the table. Some folks today don't worry about food on the table, they don't care as long as they have a 66 inch TV on the wall of their house to watch sports.
Over the years I myself have found it very hard to hand over all your worries to the Lord. I have been to the altar in churches when we pray for God to take our cares and worries and we bundle them up and we put them at the altar and we pray and pray and then we get up off our knees and grab our worries and head back to our seats. This week we are going to talk about giving our worries to God and what it requires to do that. Folks, it all involves having faith in God and working hard to keep that faith growing. Will you join me this week as we travel together with God, in faith, and just holding onto the hopes and promises that He has for us? God is Good and we need to lean back and enjoy it.
Dear Father in Heaven, we want to be talking a lot to you this week and we really want to increase our faith in You, we want to have total trust in You as we walk with You each day, please help us. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Now we are going to go out singing, and folks, please share your blessings. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
Let's sing about talking to Jesus.
I once was lost in sin but Jesus took me in, and then a little light from heaven filled my soul. It bathed my heart in love, and wrote my name above and just a little talk with Jesus made me whole.
Chorus:
Now let us have a little talk with Jesus, Let us tell Him all about our troubles, He will hear our faintest cry and He will answer by and by, Now when you feel a little prayer wheel turning and You know a little fire is burning You will find a little talk with Jesus makes it right.
I may have doubts and fears, my eyes be filled with tears, but Jesus is a friend who watches day and night. I go to Him in prayer, He knows my every care. And just a little talk with Jesus makes it right.
Chorus:
Now let us have a little talk with Jesus, Let us tell Him all about our troubles, He will hear our faintest cry and He will answer by and by, Now when you, feel a little prayer wheel turning and You know a little fire is burning You will find a little talk with Jesus makes it right.
