"Knock and the door will be opened unto you."
There is joy in the camp, for another warrior has gone home. The warrior worked hard for the Lord, He stood in front of flocks and told and talked of his love of Jesus, and now He is with Him face to face.
Please pray today for the family of my dear, dear friend, Pastor Charles Idler, for He went to be with Jesus this past Sunday. About two weeks ago I went to see Pastor Charles at his room at Messiah Village. When I went in, he did not seem to know me, he was in his chair. Pastor Charles had a stroke a few years back and I came to know him when he and his lovely wife Katharine would come to church.
Pastor Charles was quiet and loved the Lord. Me, I make a lot of noise and love the Lord. We hit it off great. We prayed a lot and talked a lot and I really wanted to see and hear him preach again. One day he closed the service for me. When I was over just recently Pastor was very tired, as I said it seemed he did not know me, until I started to sing "How Great Thou Art" and his eyes lit right up. He tried to join in, as we sang some more. We sang the Old Rugged Cross. I said to him, you want to go home, don't you, and he said very, very slowly... H O M E... On Sunday Pastor Charles went home..
Please say a word of prayer for the family, FOR THERE IS JOY IN THE CAMP, ANOTHER WARRIOR HAS GONE HOME. See you soon, Pastor, we are only passing through down here.
Good Morning. my dear brothers and sisters, and it is Wednesday, meaning it is Salvation Wednesday on this line and the day we pray for the unsaved. So today please pray for the unsaved and for God to use those who are saved to help lead in the lost to be saved. Again, I want to remind you that only our Lord Jesus can save a soul, we are His workers and we are to bring in the harvest for Him to save. Please keep praying also for my dear wife as she is in rehab, rehabbing her third new right knee in about 4 years. This one is not easy and we need to pray that depression is not setting in.
Ask, Seek and Knock: Day 3: Matthew 7:7 - "Knock and the door will be opened unto you." (NIV)
Revelation 3:14 - "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation. 15 I know your deeds that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm neither hot nor cold I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, 'I am rich, I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich, and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness, and slave to put on your eyes, so you can see. 19 Those who I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with me. (NIV)
As we look over Ask, Seek and Knock, I want to ask you this very important question today. Are you hot or cold for the Lord, or are you, well, like the Bible states, just lukewarm? While I ask you this question today, I do caution you that our Lord already knows your heart and I am just trying to work for Him and see if you, and yes, even me, know our own hearts well enough to answer this question today.
Maybe even some have hot and cold spells. Folks, we need to be "hot" for the Lord. We need to be on fire for Him all the time... To do just that we need to repent and get it done. Do you see the words of our scripture today? "But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked." Wow, we have money in the bank because someone told us years ago to save for old age, we go to the eye doctor and have 20/20 corrected eye sight, and we dress in really nice clothes. Yet when we are cold, or even lukewarm the Bible tells us we are poor, blind and naked. And even states we are wretched and pitiful. What do we need to do to get this in line, for the Bible, our word for today tells us that Jesus does love us, but He is going to spit us out of His mouth. And what does He want us to do after He spits us out? He wants us to go to Him and buy gold refined in the fire, you then become rich, and you cover your shameful nakedness by being earnest and repenting.
Maybe I can relate this to our food at a fine eating place. Our food comes, and it costs a lot, let's say a big steak, and we are really ready for it. We take the first bite and we spit it out, for it is either cold or just lukewarm. Then we send it back and it is put back on the fire and refined. Our dear Lord loves us, and He wants us, but He does not want us cold for Him or even just lukewarm. We need to repent and get back into or in my words get back on fire or just get on fire if you are a first timer and we need to get that fire stoked up. And how do we stoke up our fire? We need to, well, we need to Ask, Seek and Knock! Wow, God just brought me back to the lesson title. Ask, Seek and Knock.
Ask, well, that would be we going to Him in prayer or just talking to Him and this time not rambling on and on, but getting to the point. I WANT TO BE ON FIRE FOR YOU, LORD, HELP ME PLEASE...
So what are we asking and seeking, we are asking for God to help us to repent of our sins. Because if we really want to seek out the Lord we need to put away our sinful self and get washed so we are not naked and we are white as snow. And then we need to Knock on the door again, and talk to God again and again. And then we need to remember as we repent, that it will be our Lord Jesus who is going to stand at the door and Knock. And when we hear His voice and invite Him in, He will come in and eat with us and us with Him... BEHOLD I STAND AT THE DOOR AND KNOCK... Maybe Jesus would like to say, I spit you out once, and I am back because of my dear, dear love for You. Are you ready now, or are you still lukewarm? SO I ASK YOU AGAIN AND AGAIN, ARE YOU READY NOW OR ARE YOU STILL EITHER COLD OR LUKEWARM?
In the near future I am going to take a run back at a love of mine, the Bus Museum Board of Directors. As you recall, I was and am still Chaplain and need to get the prayer back on board. I was told we can no longer pray out loud before a meeting (we are not government run or supported). We will have silent prayer and reflection. Code to God, we don't care enough to honor You for what You did for us by talking to You out loud in front of others. I need to do this, for I am tired of being put aside or even put down because I have come to Jesus and I am hot for the Lord, I am on fire for the Lord, and He is and must be first in my life... I messed up on this one, I should have stayed and kept on praying. So pray for me as my hat and more important my heart for Jesus and also for those old vehicles go back into the ring. I have talked to God about this... I have ASKED, I HAVE SOUGHT, AND NOW I AM GOING TO DO SOME KNOCKING... We do have a God of second chances. For if He were not, why would Jesus have died on the cross for us? God hates sin and I do also.
As we pray today in closing, let's do this for Pastor Charles or more so for his family... And you know this is coming... Lord, bless the family of the warrior, Pastor Charles who has come home... and I just know He is singing this...
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee, How great Thou Art, How great Thou Art...
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee, How great Thou Art, How great Thou Art...
HOW GREAT THOU ART... HOW GREAT T-H-O-U A-R-T...
HOW GREAT THOU ART... HOW GREAT T-H-O-U A-R-T...
Now go forth loving on Jesus, repenting and listening for the knock on your door, and sharing your blessings along the way. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
