October 7, 2010 In The Beginning 4

And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years."

Good Families and schools day, my friends, and today as we pray for our families and our schools, please pray for prayer warrior, John Henry Riddlesberger, a retired teacher who is back subbing today.

Do you have children going to school? Be sure you tell your children to pray in school before they eat and please be sure you tell them to pray with other children. And yes, it is ok to pray over a test or to pray for your team... Just remember that the other teams are being prayed for also.

In The Beginning 4: And God said: Pastor Dan, you are falling asleep at the computer, go take a nap and come back in an hour or two. Thanks God, folks, I was up most of the night working at the museum... I will be back... And I am back.

In The Beginning 4: Genesis 1:14 - And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years. 15 And let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. 16 God made two great lights, the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning the fourth day. (NIV)

So, what in the scriptures on this fourth day jump out at you? Here is what jumps right out at me. Again I see that God is still speaking creation, and folks, once again I point out the power one has in their mouth, and folks, we have a choice, we can use our words for good or evil. Believe me when I say some try and use it for good and evil. You see a lot of that right now as we are coming up on an election. Sometimes we see it in the hate people have for others and how they talk behind their backs but are nice to their face. We are responsible for what goes in our mouth, it can keep us in shape or make us heavy or even light. We are also responsible on what comes out of our mouth, and yes, someday we will all answer for that. Now what else?

To me it is so amazing how God set all these things in the sky, including our beloved earth and how it rotates around and around and how God made it that we don't fall off and how we rotate and the Sun, the greater light, comes up each day, and the Moon, the lesser of the light comes up each night. Sometimes due to clouds we cannot see them, but they are there. And the stars are so pretty, and just recently those who look at the stars and planets just discovered another planet, this one not all that far away. Could it be they just found it because God just added it in? Folks, I want you to think about this, how God just keeps adding new things, some come from the talents that God loaned men and women, others come direct from God.

The other thing that I see is that "God saw it was good." Brothers and sisters, as I close up for today I would like you to look deep into that statement and look at it as an example from God... "God saw it was good." What did God see that was good? He saw His very own work. How about when we do a job, can we step back and say, I saw it and it was good? Or do we take a short cut, or even do something wrong on purpose? Yes, on purpose. You only needed to work for a car dealer who received cars that were built right before a strike. Bottles in the doors behind the door panels, Cheese, the stinky kind, in the heaters. Brothers and sisters listen to me, when we do a job, when we do work for others, are we doing it right and to the best of our abilities? I don't care what you are getting paid, if you are doing the job, even free to help others, do it right for we, who are born again, are sure doing it for God, or it is reflecting on Him. Please, try your best to be able to step back and say this... I saw it and I think it is good, and then ask yourself, can God say this? "God saw it (my work) and it was good?" How about that?? Do it right, do it for God.

Dear Father help me, help us all to do our jobs and make You proud of the work we are doing for deep down we are doing it for You. Help us, Lord, help us, and Lord, please bless our families and our schools and bless each member of the family, and Lord, open the hearts of family members who are not saved, so they can enjoy the Good News of Jesus Christ. Lord, help us teach our kids to pray, even in schools and where people do not want you. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Now go forth sharing your blessings... Love ya, Pastor Dan.
