In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Good Monday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. Monday and the day we pray for our leaders, those who lead our nation, our state houses and our local governments. It is also the day we pray for our veterans, current military, police, firefighters, and all others who work to keep us safe and healthy.
Anna Troutman needs prayers, she is one of our flock at the Bridges and she took a fall and broke her arm. Prayers also for Dale and Blanch, Blanch is very weak as she goes three times a week to get her blood cleaned. Dale was told he needs surgery to open those arteries in the neck, he said no more surgery, he is trusting God to clean them out. Also pray for traveling protection for our ministry partner Pamela as she travels with her sister Patricia and her husband Alan this week... And Dolores and I get to doggie sit Pam's dog Toby. Vicki left a voice mail for Dolores yesterday saying she needs more prayer, as her blood pressure is falling.
In The Beginning 1: Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said. "Let there be light and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day" and the darkness he called "night: and there was evening, and there was morning the first day. (NIV)
I asked God this morning if we could go back to the beginning, roll back about 4,500 years or more and take a look at creation. Roll back time to when there was nothing, I said nothing here, not even dinosaurs like some try and tell you... dinosaurs, over a million years old when the Bible tells us that our earth is still young. I believe in the Bible, all of it, right from Genesis 1:1 to the end of Revelation. I also believe that it took six days for God to create this world and all that He put in it. Five days as we know them today. I do not try and say the days were longer then than they are now. No, I believe they are the same. Anyway, I asked God if we could roll back and look at some of the early events as we move toward Christmas which is just 12 short weeks away.
When I look at this very first day of creation, I want to bring out some things that look important to me, not that they all aren't important. The very first thing I see is the Bible tells me In the beginning GOD. It does not say in the beginning Darwin, or in the beginning a big boom. The Bible is very, very clear that God created the Heavens and the Earth and that would include the United States of America, in our early form. Now the next thing I really pay attention to is this... And GOD Said: God spoke this, He did not cause a boom. I have heard some Christians say, well if this all happened by a boom then God made the boom. No, He did not make a boom, He spoke creation, and that, folks, tells you just how powerful the spoken word is. I also notice that God saw that the light was good. He did not call the darkness good, He called the light good. Have you noticed when it comes to crime, when most of it happens? And then God named the light day and the darkness He called night. So we have one day into creation, and we have day and night.
Now I mentioned Darwin and it just reminded me that the other day Dolores and I saw a car with a fish symbol on the back with Darwin written inside. Let me see, the gay community steals the rainbow that is a sign from God to God, and now those who believe in the Darwin crap, I mean theory, steal the fish sign. Also on the back of the car was a bumper sticker that said "do not listen to FOX news..." You see those who do not believe in God do not even want you to hear the truth in the news of the day. And so we rap up the first day. Why not go to your Bibles and follow along as we start at the beginning? Yes, this week I will be writing six days and resting on Sunday.
Let's pray...
Dear Father in Heaven, even as You created this old world that You lent to us, You had us on Your mind for You put in this world all that we would need. Thank You for that, and thank You for the rain of today, and Lord, we ask that You look after our leaders, our president and vice president and all of the leaders in Washington and in our State houses. Lord, bless our veterans and our military and bless our police and firefighters and bless all others on our prayer list. And Lord, I pray today for non-believers and also the fence sitters, those who believe one day and not the next. Lord, help us who do believe, repent of our sins and walk daily with You. In the name of Jesus, I pray... Amen.
Now go forth sharing your blessings and loving your neighbors and loving God... Love ya, Pastor Dan.
