"As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, and say to the owner of the house, 'The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?' He will show you a large upper room, all furnished. Make preparations there."
Good Communion Friday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. Today is Friday and the day we pray for all those who go to the fields of Harvest and work for our Lord Jesus. We of course will continue to pray for those with cancer: Dianne Ritchie, Ron Leidigh, Kathleen Sansoni, and for Blanch who has failed kidneys and must be put on the machine three times a week. Also for my dear wife Dolores who is in so much pain I don't know how she keeps moving. Also please keep the fine folks at Wolf bus flooded with prayer as they work through the accident of the other day and deal with the death of one of their long time bus drivers.
Listening to God 5: Mark 16:15 - He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." (NIV)
Luke 22:10 - "As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, 11 and say to the owner of the house, 'The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?' 12 He will show you a large upper room, all furnished. Make preparations there." (NIV)
While most of our scriptures this week that I used when I was writing about listening to God did have a direct reference to listening, even using the word listen or listening, there are many, many things in the Bible that God wants us to listen to. He wants us to listen so we hear Him speak to our hearts but He also wants us to read the word and listen to what it tells us to do. Example, the ten commandments and then the two great commandments. Our scriptures of today are examples of just that. The scripture from Mark 16:15 is one of a couple that tells us that we need to be working in His Fields of Harvest. "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." Each and every one of us should be working those fields for our Lord Jesus, even with that, even with all those who are Born Again working in the fields, we would have our hands full, but so many who claim to be Christians do nothing in the way of working for our Lord. Oh, did I just make a judgment? In fact I know of people who say they are Christians and have had people tell me "if that is what a real Christian is like, I don't want any part of it."
Brothers and sisters, before you ever talk to someone about our Lord Jesus, before you tell them you are a Christian, be sure that those people can see Jesus in you by the way you, walk, talk, and live.
Our lead-in scripture today is a lead-in for Communion but also shows how people listen to Jesus. Had not His disciples followed to the letter what Jesus told them, what might have happened? Jesus told His disciples where to find people who would take them to the upper room where He would eat the passover with His disciples. Where else in the Bible do we see something like this? An order to two of His disciples, who listened to Jesus and follow His words to a tee.
From Matthew 21:2 - Saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone say anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will sent them right away." (NIV)
All throughout The Bible we find things that Jesus wants us to listen to and let me do one last big one, just one word of it... REPENT!! Yes, more than one place in the Bible it tells us to Repent.
Now, folks, let's join our Lord Jesus in the Upper Room for Communion... Dear Lord, please forgive me of my sins, wash me white this day before I come to the table with You.. And help me repent of my sinful ways. In the name of Jesus I pray. And now Lord bless this bread and the fruit of the vine as we commune with You. Amen.
Luke 22:19 - And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and give it to them saying, "This is my body given for you. Do this in remembrance of me." (NIV)
Take now your bread, break it and eat it... This is the body of our Lord Jesus and was and still is broken for you. As often as you eat of it, remember Jesus...
Luke 11:20 - In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you." (NIV)
Take now your fruit of the vine, and drink of it... It is the blood of Jesus and it is still flowing today to wash you of your sins. Love Jesus, my friends, He gave His body and blood for us... Amen.
Dear Father in Heaven, Bless those this day that are working for you, bless those who have worked for you all their lives, as in Pastor Tony and Ruby. Bless them, Lord, and also heal those on our prayer list, Lord... In Jesus name, AMEN.
Now go forth and share your blessings, and folks, be brave, work for Jesus today, invite someone to the communion table with you at work. Hey, all they can do is say no... at least offer. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
