"Knock and the door will be opened to you"
Good Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. It feels like the North Pole here at the Southern Location of the North Pole, wow, 37 degrees this morning. Time to roll up the garden hoses before they freeze.
Please pray for the Saylor Family, as Don is now with Jesus. I was with them for a while last evening and you could see the relief on their faces. Folks, it is so nice when people are sure that their loved ones are with Jesus. So today let's just talk about that a bit. This is Salvation Wednesday and the day we pray for the lost. Also please pray for the following request in from Rob Campbell at Newport Assembly of God Church: We have a young man named Pat leaving today for Nepal. He will be practicing the old biblical prophecy of just walking from village to village looking for an honest man to spread the gospel to. He will be going in with a backpack and a guide; but God will be his real guide and protector. He will be there for 6 weeks. Can we remember him in our prayers through this time?
So let's keep Pat in our prayers till we hear he is back home... Thanks. Prayers also for Vicki. Her procedure did not go well and more tests are being done. I am sure there are a few more prayer requests and I am drawing a blank right now. Also some of you might have received a piece of email that went the wrong way for me. Please just x it out.
Ask, Seek, Knock 3: Matthew 7:7 - "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." 8 "For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." (NIV) (quoting Jesus)
In a few short days there will be a lot of knocking on your door and there you will find kids dressed up and asking for candy... Trick or Treat... I often wondered what might happen if when I opened the door and they said trick or treat I would just stand on my head. You know, do a trick for them. Maybe at my age I should keep giving out the candy. While not all of us get involved in this thing we call Halloween, I must confess that as a kid we did the bumming for candy thing and as a grownup we give out the candy. In fact since we have so many dogs and they get all upset, I go to the end of the driveway, and hand out the candy.. Now we see in the stores candy and candy and candy, and if you ask teachers and school bus drivers about this holiday and the others where we give candy you will find that they will tell you about the sugar highs that the kids get on. But still we get ready for it. We go to the store and we purchase candy and/or snacks for the kids, and admit it, you buy enough to be sure you have leftovers. We are ready for that knock on the door...
Would you be that ready if when you opened the door there stood Jesus? Would you turn to your spouse and say, hey there is a big person dressed up as Jesus? Or would you really know Him? Now I know that when we are talking about knocking from this part of the Bible we are talking about when we are knocking on doors, and more so on the door to Heaven... Many ways to look at this...
I am going to come back to this knocking tomorrow and address about us being the knocker, but for today, this Salvation Wednesday, I am just asking you this... Are you as ready for Jesus to come knocking for you as you will be for the Halloweeners, those kids in the little costumes? Would Jesus find you willing to open the door for Him, or would you need to say, hold on a minute while you tried to hide the dirty books and get the Bible out? Would you need to change the channel on the TV? Too late, folks, for when Jesus comes knocking, He already knows your heart. I wonder this year what might happen if you would get some Bible tracts and put them with the candy going to the kids. You know, I think I am going to do that this year. Put out a word about Jesus. If you had a hundred kids at the door and one person read the good, good news, it would be worth it all. And folks, surely it would be the best of the best of those gifts the kids would get. Tomorrow, we find out what happens when we do the knocking. For now, let's just go to prayer asking God to forgive us and to use us, let us get our hearts ready for that old knock...
Dear Father in Heaven, please forgive me of my sins, come into my heart, as You are welcome. Anoint me to work for You and get me ready for Heaven... In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
Concert today at the Bridges... 2.00 PM and you are welcome... 2100 Bent Creek Blvd... Mechanicsburg, Pa. 795 1100 Now go and share those blessings. love ya, dan.
