Tuesday: Silver, Gold, Platinum, Clay 2

For you know that it was not with perishable things like silver or gold that redeemed you.

Good Morning, my dear brothers and sisters and welcome to Schools day Tuesday. It is a beautiful morning here at the Southern Location of the North Pole. Tuesday, the day we pray for our schools and all who go through the doors. Please keep praying for Vicki who is waiting test results and also start praying for Joan who is being checked for stomach cancer. Also please pray for Beverly who was in an accident with a deer and for "Gabby" and her family and extended family.

Notice, there will be a small dog rescue expo this Saturday at the York Fairgrounds. All sorts of good things going on.. Check it out on Rescue Me Yorkie Web Site. And Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there suited up for pictures with your dogs All dogs welcome that are under 23 pounds. Pictures are $10 dollars with the money going to the Yorkshire rescue group. Want to guess who Santa and Mrs. Claus will be? Stop and see us... York fair grounds this Saturday. Look for the big North Pole Lines Eagle Bus.

Silver, Gold, Platinum, Clay 2: 1 Peter 1:17 - Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. (NIV)

Yesterday I talked about Gold and just how some people on earth seem to worship it while our Lord God look at it as pavement for His streets in Heaven. Today lets take a look at silver and what it might be like. You know years ago our coins had real silver in and today, is there even a trace of it?

Today I confess again that I have some of those old silver coins, and I really should sell them off. They are in a fire proof safe along with some important papers. I do want to point this out that all should have a fire proof safe or box to keep important papers but even they will burn if the fire gets hot enough. We can look at silver coins or things made from silver. I have some Native American Jewelry, or Indian Jewelry, and it has real silver in it and it really is beautiful and all handcrafted. But it is what it is, it is just beautiful handcrafted "stuff" and if we had a fire it would all melt down.

If you notice that in our scripture today it reads in part, "Perishable things such as silver or gold." Yes, silver and gold are very valuable but also very, very perishable. It can melt, it can go down in value, it can grow legs (grow lets = being stolen) or it can just be misplaced or lost.

Now while we do have some great examples of the valuable side of the silver or gold, one stands out in my mind... Oh you could have a great silver watch or that gold watch from retirement but the most valuable things that are referred to as silver or gold are friends. Do you remember this from your Childhood days and Vacation Bible School? It was a song...

"Make new friends and keep the old, One is silver and the other gold."

So again today as I close, I ask you.... which is best, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Clay.. and which one does God refer to in us and where should we put our earnings, etc.?

Dear Father in Heaven, my mind is not today like it should be and I need your touch. I also ask that You consider forgiving us from our sins and start us out fresh today. Please watch over our schools and keep them safe and please be in them at all times. Lord, bless all who enter the doors, and Lord, be with those on our prayer list and keep Your healing hand on them. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

Now go forth sharing your blessings and making new friends as you keep the old... love ya, dan.
