Wed. Nov. 29, 2011 The Journey 2011-19

Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Good Salvation Wednesday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. I love Salvation Wednesdays, brothers and sisters, I really do. Sort of like a mid-week service from days of old. I can remember when I was just a child (back when the streets were still dirt). My dear late mamma (she was not late back then) would take me to "prayer meeting" on Wednesday evening at the 29th Street United Brethren Church at 29th and Derry Streets in Harrisburg. I personally feel that we all should be working for God each day, but we also need a day to take on fuel during the week. While we pray for different things each day, salvation is the most important thing we can be praying for and of course for those unsaved to be saved, and for the saved to work to bring in the unsaved.

So today we pray for those who might be unsaved, and we also pray for the saved to be working to bring in the lost, and it is also a good day for we who are saved to take a look at Salvation and remember how we came to Christ and renew with Him. We also need to be praying for Ruby, for Carol Harris, for Vicki, and we need to give a shout out of praise as "Dave" came through his heart surgery yesterday with no problems. Thank You Jesus. THANK YOU JESUS.

And please keep praying for Carry The Light Ministries and for our "packing party" this Saturday afternoon. What a great day it will be. Think of this, our very small food pantry will be packing food, five big paper bags full for each family and there will be 100 families that we are packing for. We should have a team of about 30/40 people packing bags. Then in two weeks we have our distribution day, again in the afternoon... Still needed, prayer warriors, men and women to pray with men and women. Let me know if you can help either day or both days. Let's get to the message... Come on, the top is back on the sleigh, we are going out for a cold ride, and the first thing we are going to find out is how to have years added to our lives. On Washington, on Jefferson, or Lincoln, and Bush, on Clinton, on Adams and yes, another Bush, and lead us on, Obama, off we go, being pulled today by Presidents!!

The Journey 2011 Day 19 Exodus 20:12 - Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. 13 You shall not murder. 14 You shall not commit adultery. 15 You shall not steal. 16 You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. 17 You shall not covet your neighbor's house.

You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor. (NIV)

How do you get extra days on this earth, according to the Bible? You follow the commandment of God, to honor your father and mother.

Honor your father and your mother. I admit it, I was a "mamma baby" and was and still am proud of it. I loved my mamma and still love her to this day. My mamma would tell me, "you will appreciate me more after I am dead and gone." And like always, my dear mamma was right. All my friends loved my mamma also and she loved them. I can remember one day coming home with a few of my buddies, and we parked my car along side of the house and jumped into my old panel truck. My mamma was on the porch and yelled to me... "Danny, where are you going?" Sort of joking with her, I yelled back, "none of your business, mamma." Now I was joking, my friends did not take it that way, and would not get in the truck. Are you guys going along, I asked them. Not until you tell your mother you are sorry about what you said. So I went up on the porch, gave her a big hug and kiss, and my buddies did the same. Then we left and she smiled. I never did tell her what we were up to, but since I was her angel she did not need to worry.

Now I remember one other day, I came home from school, it was a cold January afternoon and I had a rare day off from the service station. Danny, you don't need to work today? No, mamma! Do you want to take me downtown to the green stamp store? You can drive my car. Ok, Mamma... On the way downtown, we were hit head on by a drunk driver... My mamma went through the windshield, she was hurt badly, and later she died from those injuries. And she was right, I really appreciate her more and more even today.

My earthly father was a good man, he was God-fearing and when he told me something I better had listened. He would say something about going to the woodshed and we did not have a woodshed. My daddy laid out the rules and one of the rules was you better listen to your mother. For those of you who still have your mother and father or one of them, please spend time with them, call them on the phone and talk to them. Our kids check in with us all the time. Please, when you check in with your parents, don't just do it when something is wrong. You know as your parents age, it does not take gifts to please them, just a phone call or when you see them a big hug and words like... I love you, dad, or I love you, mom. Our Lord Jesus should be number one in your house, then your family...

HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER AND LIVE LONGER..

Ok, let's talk about the next one. Exodus 20:13 - You shall not murder!! And brothers and sisters, there are murders going on each and every day in this the United States of America. Most of the murders are legal... Yes, I said, "most of the murders are legal." LET ME SAY IT ONE MORE TIME, MOST OF THE MURDERS IN THE UNITED STATES ARE LEGAL. Of course they call it abortion, not murder. If I were president of the United States, abortion would be stopped by an order of the president on my first day in office.

Also showing up across our lands is what is called "black on black" murders and crime. Let me call it gang related. We also have drunk drivers who kill people and you are not going to want to hear this, but to me, and again I want to say this, TO ME, if you are messing with texting on your phone and cross the center of the road and hit and kill someone, it should be called murder. Again, it should be called that. When you get behind the steering wheel of the car, you have a loaded gun in your hands. Drive it like my life depends on it... because if I am coming the other direction, it does. Amen.

Do I need to talk about this next one? Exodus 20:14 - Do not commit adultery. What does this mean? It means be happy with your spouse and keep your mind and everything else on them...

Exodus 20:15 - You shall not steal... And if I were to ask all of you today, have you ever stolen anything, anything at all, most would say NO. But wait a minute, what about that roll of tape you brought home from work, or those ink things for in your printer? Oh, and how many pens are on your dresser that say, US Government on them? I rest my case. How about nuts and bolts if you work in a garage? I can remember a song called "One piece at a time." Johnny Cash sang it about his Caddy.

Exodus 20:16 - You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. What does that mean... Easy... Don't Lie. Tell the truth. The longer you keep putting out lies, the longer it takes to dig out from under them. One lie leads to another... Just tell the truth, for the truth will set you free.

Exodus 20:17 - "You shall not covet." While I could go on and on, let me just say we should not covet anything. Let me bring it forward. You should not covet your neighbor's house, wife, or servant, his boat, Lincoln, his Harley, or even his woodpile.
Ok, what you should covet... Covet your neighbor's love for the Lord, if they indeed love the Lord, and if they do not, then teach them to love the Lord. Well, we rushed through them, but we must keep moving on the journey as we have a date to meet at the manger and it is coming up fast.

Dear Father in Heaven, clean me of my sins this day and help me to work with others to bring them unto You. Help us, Lord, in the name of Jesus to live each day to please You. Be with those on our prayer lists, and Lord, please help us with the food pantry... In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Now go forth and share your blessings. And please share the love of Jesus... love ya. Pastor Dan
