Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden?'" The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, you must not eat from the tree that is in the middle of the garden and you must not touch it, or you will die.
Good Monday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. PRAISE REPORT, PRAISE REPORT. When all else fails, call on God... Yes, did you see the start of the Penn State Game on Saturday? You know, you just cannot pray in public at a state school, right? Wrong!! I pray at those schools anytime I am on their property. But both teams went to the center of the field and prayed before the game... Maybe if God had not been put to pasture at some of these schools we would not have THE TRASH THAT IS GOING ON. The only major sport that I know of that still calls on God out loud before an event is NASCAR. They also support our military.
Today being Monday is the day we set aside to pray for our leaders, all those in authority over us. Pray for our president and his family, and please pray for their salvation. Please help me, what is the name of the first lady? Prayers also for veterans, current military, police, firefighters, doctors, and all those who work to keep us safe and healthy. Please pray for Kathy, and place her in the hands of God, she has cancer, she is in pain, she is born again and ready to go home. Prayers for Baby Boy Noah, and please keep Carry The Light Ministries in your prayers. We are really busy, really busy, and we have more and more families needing food. Also pray for the family of Marvin Carter, who passed away recently.
The Journey 2011-10 Genesis 3:1 - Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden?'" 2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, you must not eat from the tree that is in the middle of the garden and you must not touch it, or you will die. (NIV)
Once again I ask you to get out your Bibles and read Genesis 3 as I am just not going to type complete chapters of the Bible.
Ok, climb aboard our sleigh as we go back in time again. On Dasher, on Dancer...
Let's talk a tad about that serpent. The serpent is really Satan, the old man of evil. From Revelation 12:9 - The great dragon was hurled down that ancient serpent called the devil or Satan who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. So the serpent was in the garden talking to woman and she was telling the serpent you must not eat from the tree in the center of the garden. Question, what was on that tree that looked so good to eat? This is not a trick question. Anyway, the serpent and the woman went on to debate about that tree and what was on it. The serpent told her that "For God knows that when you eat of it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. " (Genesis 3:5)
Now the woman said that the (what was on the tree) looked good so she picked some and ate it, she also gave some to her husband, Adam. Then she told Adam that it was good. Adam then ate some. Then the man and his wife heard God walking in the garden, and knowing they disobeyed God they tried to hide from God. But God called out to them... WHERE ARE YOU? The man answered, I heard you in the garden and hid for I was naked.
Genesis 3:11 - And He said, "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?"
Ok, let's look at something here... The very first commandment from God. Do not eat from the tree in the middle of the garden! So often we think of commandments only as the first 10 and the 2 great commandments. We will be looking at a lot of other commandments from God as we go on our journey.
And now for the first game I will call the "Blame Game. Genesis 3:12 - The man said, "The woman you put here with me, she gave me some ------- from the tree, and I ate it. 13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, What is this you have done? The woman said, The serpent deceived me, and I ate it.
So let me get this straight, the man gets caught, blames his wife and she blames the SNAKE. And the blame game begins.
Wow, did we not just hear some of this in the news last week. The one coach sees a grown man doing something bad to a child in a shower, he does nothing (he should have kicked his butt) but he tells the senior coach, who tells the Athletic director, who tells someone else and so on and so forth and no one does anything to protect the kid. When it came to light, the blame game begins.
Have you ever done things and then blamed them on someone else when caught? I mean I did that to my brother when we were kids, and I for the life of me don't know why, for he was much bigger than me and when I did it, he would beat me up.
Tomorrow as we look deeper into these, the very first sins, we will see how God punished all of us for what they, that first man and woman did in the garden.
Dear Father in Heaven, Thy will be done... Thank You, Lord, for another day on earth, may we live to please You. Please watch over those on our prayer lists according to Your will. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Now go forth and share those blessings. love ya, Pastor Dan.
