The Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and to all the beasts of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping He took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib He had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh, she shall be called 'woman' for she was taken out of man."
Good Saturday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. Yes, it is Saturday and a rare Saturday message from me. However, since I missed Thursday, we need to pray for our schools and our families... and please remember the family of God.
Praise report, Praise report. Glenn Gamber is coming home from the hospital today, and his wife Marie is doing better at home. Also, we need to keep praying for Pearl. Also for Karen Baugham (stroke). Please pray for the family of Dave Herr, who has passed from this earth at the age of 50. Pray also for our son Matthew Lehman, who is bipolar and is in the Holy Spirit Hospital being treated for major depression.
The Journey 2011 Day Nine: Genesis 2:18 - The Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." 19 Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and to all the beasts of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. 21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping He took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib He had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. 23 The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh, she shall be called 'woman' for she was taken out of man." (NIV)
God knew that it was not good for man to be alone... Let me tell you that is very true with me to this very day. I hate being alone.
Now God brought all the creatures to man to name, but even with all those animals, man was still alone. He had named all of the creatures. Now this was the animal kind name, like he named the bear, the lion, the rabbit, the dogs and cats. The wolf and the lamb, which someday will lay down together... Take note that in Genesis 2/20 it uses the name of Adam for the first time. And now God makes a helper for Adam and Adam called this helper woman for she was made from bones of man.
So with all the animals, man still needed a mate. So God put the man into a deep sleep and pulled out a rib. Then He made the woman, who was made to be our helper. Men, please note, that God made woman to be your helper, not your slave, or to bow to your every want when you want it. Men, you need to live your life for God and then the woman God puts in your life will really love and respect you. So now think about this, Adam wakes up after God removed a rib and sealed the flesh with flesh and there beside him is this beautiful woman, and like Adam, she was naked. There was no shame felt, and we will get into more of that on Monday when our journey takes us to the fall of man. I must wonder what did Adam and this woman, who at this point has not been named, I wonder what they looked like!
Time for this question, which came first the chicken or the egg? Now while many people will stand and debate that for hours, here is the answer. I want you to notice something right now, all of the animals, all of the birds, all of the sea critters and even the plants and trees were fully grown, as was Adam and his woman. Fully grown. So the answer to that question, of course, the chicken came first, for God would not put a baby in place without a mother to take care of it, and hopefully the father, as in Adam, would be there.
Next week we will move out fast... The fall of man in the garden and who takes the blame. The very first MURDER, and I pray we have time to get into some heavy rain... Jump out of the sleigh, get a day of rest on Sunday, get to a GOOD church and talk to God a lot.
Dear Father in Heaven, help us to love You more and more each day, help us to live each day to please You. Help us to walk in Your light and try our very best to walk how You walked. Please Lord, have Your will at our prayer requests. And Lord, please send help and more food to the food pantry... In Jesus' name, Amen.
Folks, pray about Carry The Light Ministries food pantry. First, we need food, fruit, and we need boxed goods. We also need dollars to purchase more meat. We have turkeys promised, but would like to give chicken also. You see, we do not just give a food basket for a meal, we give or try to give food to supply the family for a month. Ok, brothers and sisters, I am having fun, but need to go. So please go forth sharing your blessings and living your life to please God... love ya, Pastor Dan.
