Friday Nov. 4, 2011 The Journey 2011-4

And God said, "let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. God made two great lights, the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.

Good Friday evening, my dear brothers and sisters. Friday and the day we pray for those workers in God's fields of harvest. Folks, please keep praying for Carry The Light Ministries, and for our food pantry, we are receiving more and more names each day and more and more people are coming to pick up food. We have families coming year round, we are not just a Christmas food pantry. Just today we had a family come in for food, and listen to this, you are going to love it. The family of six, a husband who is working but not earning enough to pay bills and feed the family, a mother and four children, the youngest two months old. The family was turned away from several food banks because it was "not their day to give out food." One of the food pantries was "Project Share" who was just on TV saying they needed turkeys for Thanksgiving. While they might have needed turkeys, the freezer where the news shot the story from was loaded with food. Project Share did share something, they gave the family our phone number... AND PRAISE GOD, WE COULD AND DID HELP THEM. And Dolores and I got to pray for this two month old baby and anoint her with oil. Thank You, Jesus, for sending people our way. Folks, we at Carry The Light did not sign in with Central Pennsylvania Food Pantry to get food from them as they told me... "we can't pray with families" among other things. Folks, no one will ever tell me I can't pray with someone, at anytime and anyplace and more so even in our own food pantry in our own basement of the home God has lent to us. SOMEONE JUMP AND SHOUT AMEN AND AMEN. I guess they would get upset if they found out we also gave each family a BIBLE LAST YEAR... I just had to share that with all of you. Also please remember we need help on the 3rd and the 17th of December to sort and pack. Ok, let me get on message.

The Journey 2011-4 Genesis 1:14 - And God said, "let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. 16 God made two great lights, the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening and there was morning the fourth day. (NIV)

Here is the answer to the question I asked the other day. How many days did it take God to create all things? Wow I am proud of you, all who responded got it correct... While most people might say seven days, it really took God just six days, for as you recall He rested on the seventh. Years ago I was writing seven days a week and my dear brother in Christ, Tom Sansoni, pointed out to me about resting on that seventh day... He was right and I put my writing back to six days.

Speaking of Tom, please pray for him as he is being checked (cat scan) for a hernia. Lord, please take care of my brother, thank you, Lord. Amen.

Ok, climb aboard the sleigh with old Santa and Mrs. C. and let's look and listen some more... You remember yesterday how we watched as the water gathered in different places and then land appeared, and then we saw the plants and trees pushing up and those had seeds in them. Now we watch and listen, quiet, please, stop munching your popcorn and listen. Look, what is that little speck of light out there in the sky? Remember, God called sky, that which was between the water below us and the water above us... Now as He speaks out again, you can almost hear those words... let there be lights in the expanse of the sky. And He placed the stars in the sky and these were used as roadmaps to find your way and also help tell the weather. Wow, look at this, get those sunglasses on for here comes the sun, (the other Son comes later.) Yes, the brighter of the two lights was called the Sun and the lesser of the two lights is called the moon. Now here it comes, in all respect of course, but God was the very first to (are you ready for this) God was the very, very first to (yes here it comes,) God was first to "Moon us."

So the lights in the sky serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years. Yes, folks, believe it or not, they did not have Mickey Mouse watches back in the beginning, and no Timex watches. While Timex is said to be able to take a lick'en and keep on tick'en, our Lord is the one who took the licken but that is for much later in the Journey. The sky can also help with the weather, for when we see a red sky in the morning, it is a warning that bad weather is coming, and if we see the red sky at night it is a sign for nice weather. And don't you just love it when those who study the heavens and the sky, and they find a new star and they get excited, they give them a name and all. But folks, God made them on the fourth day of creation, and He is just now showing them to us. Again I say if He opened it all at once we would be just overwhelmed at it all. Let's face it, He shows it to us as He wants us to see it. Did you know the Sun gives us heat, real hot heat, and how we miss it when the clouds cover it? Ok, it is time to wrap up for today, for tomorrow morning comes early.

But as we go, remember at 2.00 AM on Sunday morning to turn your clock back and it is said we get an extra hour sleep. However, I must leave you with this. Trying to do it like you should, I set my alarm at 2.00 AM get up, turn back my clock to 1.00 AM and go back to sleep. At 2.00 AM the alarm goes off again and being tired, I just turned back my clock to 1.00 AM and went back to sleep. What happened next? Yes, the alarm goes off at 2.00 AM again and I get up, turn it back and again and again till I opened the blinds and saw it was daylight... And I got an extra hour sleep... Ba-humbug. Ok, I made that one up and I suspect you know that.

Dear Father in Heaven, thanks again for the messages on the Journey, and thanks for keeping my eyes open to get it done. Lord, be with those on our prayer lists and be with those working in Your fields of Harvest... In Jesus' name, Amen.

Time to go, folks, get out of the sleigh now, have a great weekend, and please turn that clock back and get that extra hour of sleep. Then get up on Sunday morning and go to church, and be sure you go to a good one. Share your blessings and live to please God. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
