May 4, 2010 Great Promises 7

Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessings that you will not have room enough for it."

Schools day, schools day, dear old pray for schools day, down on your knees and pray today, lift up our Lord and shout His praise... // Jesus is needed in our schools, so pray for Him to be there today... Oh, Schools day, schools day... Folks, if we get the Lord in, the reading, writing and math will follow... let's get the priorities right!! PRAY, WARRIORS, PRAY, and remember this Thursday is the National Day of Prayer. If you can't get to the Capitol steps, then go to the township office and pray. Also please pray for Barbara Paules who fell and really smashed up her legs and they are not healing. Pray for healing and that infection will not set in.

Great Promises 7: Malachi 3:6 - "I the Lord do not change." 8 "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, 'How do we rob you?'" "In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse, the whole nation of you, because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. TEST ME in this, says the Lord Almighty, "And see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessings that you will not have room enough for it." (NIV)

Where have you heard this? Now go forth and share your blessings! Oh, some old preacher man tells you that each day. Do you know that this is one of the great promises of God and the only one where He tells you that it is ok to put Him to the test? If you go to

Matthew 4:7 - Jesus answered him (the devil) "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'" (NIV)

Here you hear Jesus telling the devil that we are not to put the Lord our God to the test, except in this one thing. Folks, that is giving to the Lord and to His work. I call it just sharing our blessings. Pastor Dr. Richard Denison years ago had a saying "We are blessed to be a blessing." And that is very, very true, and when we share our blessings we are blessed even more. Think about it. Have you ever put the last dollar you had in the collection plate, only to find out in a day or two that you were blessed with something you did not expect to be coming? You know, maybe you filed your taxes wrong and got an extra rebate. Maybe your rent got lowered, maybe someone blessed you with a load of food. Maybe you got a promotion at work or a pay raise.

Folks, do you know people who are really poor? Of course we all know them, and in most cases we try and help them, for God tells us that we should help the poor, the needy, the hungry, the naked. But how many of those poor do you think share what you give them? I think it happens a lot, I think that when they get a gift of dollars or food they do not use it just for themselves or their own families, I think they share it. Brothers and sisters, there are many ways of sharing your blessings. Please do not always think of it in money, or in food, or those things, think of it in your talents, you know those talents on loan from God (Rush Limbaugh).

Let's look at some ways that you might work for God and keep His storehouse full. When God was talking about bringing in the whole tithe was He just talking about Gold or Silver, or those kinds of things? Did He not also talk about the best of the animals, the best of the lambs? So what kind of talent has God blessed you with?

Do you like to read? Maybe you could go to our local schools and help work with children learning to read, or even set up a program at your local library to help read to kids and more so teach them to read. Are you a math wiz, maybe you could teach people how to add and subtract or just keep a checkbook balance. Oh, and the need at senior communities... There is no way that our nursing homes can hire enough people to do all the jobs that need done. Has God given you a great voice? Why not share it even once a month at local senior homes? Those folks love to sing and sing. It does not always need to be gospel, it can be the oldies, or other nice things. It is your talent that God has lent to you. Maybe you should either use it, or as the saying goes, lose it.
I know this couple, let me just call them today S and O, short for Sharon and Oliver, These folks put forth an effort of sharing talent that you would not believe, some done for their church and a whole lot done to preserve and tell about history. If you have a nice hobby, why not share it? -- sewing, cooking, planting a garden. Folks, nothing is more fun than growing veggies and then putting them in a bucket and taking them up and down the street and giving them away. Folks, you can mow a neighbor's lawn, you can teach a Bible class, you can be a prayer warrior. Did you know that there are people in retirement homes who cannot see to read their Bible? Set up a Bible reading class. If you are from this area and need to get started sharing your blessings, call me. I will help you get started. What is your talent? CAN YOU SHARE IT TODAY? Test God on this one folks, test God on this one.

Dear God in Heaven, sorry for we have been robbing You. Lord, it is more than about money for You have blessed us in many ways. Help us to share Your love by sharing our blessings. Lord, please, in the name of Jesus heal Barbara, and Lord, please bring healing to our schools, and please Lord, can we remember that this Thursday is National Day of Prayer but we should really make each day, National Day of Prayer. Help us this day, and please Lord, start this day by forgiving us of our sins and help us to repent and work for You... In Jesus name, Amen.

Now folks... Go forth and share your blessings, your talents, your dollars, your food, your whatever God has blessed you with... SHARE IT, and then watch it grow. Remember, the key is you must do it in faith and in love... and yes, I love ya. Pastor Dan.
