May 13, 2010 Great Promises 14

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.

Good Morning, my dear brothers and sisters, and happy family day, the day we pray for families. Please, in addition to praying for your family and mine, remember to pray for the family in the White House, the Saylors, Idlers, Mayaskis, and the families of that are reached by Brotherhood Native American Outreach. Also pray for Vicki and her family. And most of all, pray please for The Family of God. And folks, please today pray for Jim Orner as he makes some very big decisions. Jim is the father of baby Allie. He needs prayers for healing and prayers about his future at work. Jim is a wonderful man of God who was hurt on the job years ago. Pray for this family, please.

Great Promises 14: 1 John 5:1 - Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves His child as well. 2 This is how we know that we love the children of God; by loving God and carrying out His commands. (NIV)

I want you to look at this great promise today... The scripture tells us that EVERYONE who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. What a great promise, we just need to believe, and we find that all throughout the Bible, if we just believe we have all these things granted unto us. But you must listen to this part of the message today, we show our love for others, for our brothers and sisters, by, listen to me, by loving God also and by carrying out His commands. Note that it does not say commandments, for maybe if it read that way people would stop at the twelve commandments. The original ten plus the two great commandments which are... Love God and Love your neighbor.

So what are some of those other commands? Here are just a few... I guess I like this one because it is the scripture where we picked the name "Carry The Light". From Mark 16:15 -

Mark 16:15 - He (Jesus) said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." (NIV)

John 8:12 - When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said. "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (NIV)

So you see the command that we take the good news, or The Light, into all the world or, in our case, our area of the world. Under the promise of God that we are to work for Him, and please note Jesus did not ask us to go, He commanded us to go. The promise here is that He indeed is the light of the world. If you do not have Christ in your heart today, regardless of how bright the sun might be, you are living in darkness. You can put every light on in your house, but if you do not have the light of Jesus, if you do not have the promises of Jesus living in your heart, then you're in darkness even as you pay that big electric bill. There is no substitute for the light of Jesus. And please, brothers and sisters, do not put Jesus on a DIMMER switch. You know how we put those lights in our house and then a switch that dims them down. How do I mean put Jesus on a dimmer switch? Well, that would be just having Him in your home once in a while. Or maybe I could relate it to you like this. You get up on Sunday Morning and you head to church. Some will be in a church where you could sleep and not miss anything, while others might be jumping and shouting for Jesus. But when church is over, people will come out, and either leave Jesus at church or put Him in the trunk of the car.

Brothers and sisters, let me ask you this... How long has it been since you got up in the morning, during the week, walked outside into your yard and raised your hands in the air and shouted.... THANK YOU JESUS? How long has it been or have you ever gone to your back yard garden alone and sang to/with Jesus that old hymn "In The Garden"? How long has it been, or have you ever done this? Looked around at all the flowers, trees, plants, the clouds, the sky and all the goodness outside and sang to/with Jesus "How Great Thou Art"? How long has it been since you went out someplace and sang with all your heart "Great Is Thy Faithfulness"? How long has it been since you have just dropped to your knees and said... THANK YOU JESUS? Last week I was ripping an old wooden deck off my one trailer getting ready to replace it (a job for today). I gave the old axe a big swing and went through the floor down throough the frame, and there I was. Humbled, no one around, and I had to get up and the only hand that was there to reach me was the hand of Jesus, and yes, after I collected myself up and I prayed, He and He alone helped me back up. Folks, the older I get, the more beat up my body gets, the nearer I get to Jesus. I sing when I am in the yard and I sing loud. I don't care if my neighbors hear me, in fact if they come we can sing together. I love Jesus more and more each day, I am not bragging about it, well maybe I am, and the more I love Jesus the more I love others like, well, like you, and the more I love Jesus and love others the more I want to help them. Folks I am off subject today but on this family day I ask you to fall in love with Jesus all over again... add to your love for Him. Sing to Him and for Him. Stop in your travels and just thank Him. Hang up that cell phone and talk to God. Turn off the TV and listen for God to talk to you.

If you are a youngster back in high school, double date for your prom. Guys, take your best girl and take Jesus also. Girls, take your best guy and Jesus also. If they do not want you because of Jesus, FIND A NEW DATE. A white sport coat and a pink carnation and with Jesus I'm all decked out for the prom. You know I always thought that the day I turned 16 was the best year of my life. I remember that day like it was this week. My birthday was on a Friday, my dad came home from work and we headed to get my learner's permit. We came out of the building and he gave me the keys, drive home son. The next morning at 8 AM I opened the door to the exam center, and passed my drivers test. Look out America, Danny is on the road. But now when I look back, that day is still in my mind. It was 53 years ago this week, but the day that was most important, and I really cannot remember the date but I was 39, was when I was born the second time. When I came on my knees broken and beaten to Christ. It has been a climb since and as I said, each day I fall in love more and more with Jesus. I love my wife more, I love my kids more, I love my friends more, but none of them will ever be number one for that spot is for Jesus... Oh, how I love Jesus...

Thanks for hearing me this morning, I am crying, I am happy, I am blessed, and I got off subject, and I put my heart on the line. I am heading for the shower, and I am going out and singing to the Lord in my back yard. This Saturday we, "Carry The Light", beaten a little, Pam with breast cancer, Dolores with her twisted spine and in so much pain and me, well, just beat up a bit... will be on the road again singing at Cedar Haven in Lebanon Pa. It is going to be fun for we are going to sing to Him. God is good. Let's go out singing today, let's do something different...

Dear Father, give us some words to sing, honor our prayer requests today, Lord, as we sing for You... In Jesus' name today, Lord, I want to confess my love to You and say I am sorry for the days when it was not strong or was not there at all. Lord, bless this day for all Your children... and help us all share those blessings. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Hit it...

Standing, Standing, Standing on the promises of God, my Savior, Standing, standing I'm Standing on the promises of God... Oh yes I'm; Standing, Standing, Standing on the promises of God, my Savior, Standing, standing I'm Standing on the promises of God

What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see, and I look upon His face, the one who saved me by His grace; When He takes me by the hand, and leads me through the Promised Land, What a day, glorious day that will be. One more time... hit it hard...

What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see, and I look upon His face, the one who saved me by His grace; When He takes me by the hand, and leads me through the Promised Land, What a day, glorious day that will be.

Share those blessings brothers and sisters. I love ya... Pastor Dan.
