May 3, 2010 Great Promises 6

"Weren't there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?"

Good Monday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. This is the day we pray for our leaders, and folks, please, we need to really pray for them. And we need to remember that this coming Thursday is the National Day of Prayer. If you would like to send in a short prayer before Thursday, I will copy and paste them for the message. Please be sure the prayers are from your heart and you have faith they will be heard. No special topic, whatever God lays on your hearts.

Folks, we need to pray for our leaders. If you watch the news you will see that our leaders, our president, our vice president and those in Congress so often are using words that even the news media need to bleep out. It is my opinion they should be recalled from office. Now that is my opinion, I would love to hear yours.

Today is also the day we pray for our FINE MEN AND WOMEN OF OUR MILITARY, both past and present, and for our Police, State, Local, County, all of them. We also need to pray for our firefighters, and today I would like to add Robert Lee Coburn to that prayer list. Bob was my assistant at my school job, and one thing I remember most was Bob being on the fire truck and one of the guys who picked me off the street when I was run over on my motorcycle on December 24, 1990. Most of these men and women work for nothing and even run events to raise the money to buy those trucks... SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FIREFIGHTERS.

Great Promises 6: Daniel 3:24 - Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers. "Weren't there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?" They replied, "Certainly, O king," 25 He said, "Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods." 26 Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, "Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, Come out! Come out!" (NIV)

You know how God lines things up for all of us when we listen to him. I prayed during the night and God planted on my mind about the "Fourth man in the fire." Maybe the fact that I heard The Couriers sing about them on Saturday evening, whatever the reason. Anyway, God led me to this scripture this morning, and then as I was writing the prayer list as always for Monday we pray for firefighters... Well look at this, we talk about praying for firefighters and then we see this great promise of how God will protect us, and we find out indeed that our God was, is and always will be The Lead Firefighter.

As our firefighters of today run into buildings to serve and rescue, you can see the example that God set for us... Brothers and sisters, we need to look at this as one of the great promises from God that we will be protected. Folks, we know that there are sad outcomes to some fires, even with our firefighters running in without regard to their own safety, some still die. What we do not hear about is how many are saved, how many are rescued by those firefighters with the support of our good Lord. I have seen it first hand, I was not in the fire, but laying on a busy street with traffic still moving off my one side when I heard those sirens getting louder and louder. The fire trucks, the police and the ambulance and the Med Unit. After I was loaded into the ambulance, the Firefighters had my bike taken to the fire company to be safe inside. Thanks be to God this day for His protection hand, for if we all take a look at it, at one time or another we were in the shoes of Shadrach, Meshach and/or Abednego. Maybe, it was not a fire, a fire with the flame, maybe it was another type storm in your life that God protected you from. But one thing for sure, and hear me out on this... IF YOU LOVE JESUS and you invite Him into your heart and you work and live for Him, HE WILL PROTECT YOU FROM THE FIRE OF HELL. And all God's people should be shouting AMEN...

Dear Father in Heaven, thanks again for the lessons of the Great Promises, and each day You open my eyes to more and more of them. Thanks for saving those three from the fires as recorded in the book of Daniel and thanks for our firefighters of today. Please, dear Lord, always be with them, be the next man into the fire, be it with that lone firefighter or with the group. Be with them and protect them. Also, Lord, be with our leaders, and please, Lord, I pray today for salvation for them that they would come to You. So often they have opened doors to shove You out, but we want You in. Lord, lead us to get good, God-fearing men and women running our country so we can get laws changed on abortion and other things that are putting our country down. Lord, You have blessed us in the past, and I ask today for blessings for this Nation, but I ask first that You help us get it changed to come back to You. Lord, please be with the others on our prayer list, and please, dear Lord, heal the legs of Barbara, heal her Lord. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Go forth now sharing your blessings, loving others and loving God above all those others. And yes, folks, I said it once, and I will say it again today, sharing those blessings in faith will bring you even more blessings to share, and it goes on and on when you do it in faith... love ya, Pastor Dan.
