And may He work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ.
Good Salvation Wednesday morning to you, my dear brothers and sisters. Gosh, these weeks go fast... Midweek already, hump day some call it, but for we on this line we have learned it as Salvation Wednesdays. A day to pray for our brothers and sisters who might not be Born Again and to pray that God will use us to help bring in the lost. And I think we also need to pray for our own selves to come nearer and nearer to God. I just wonder sometimes how many churches still have what was once called prayer meetings, most often held midweek on Wednesday evenings in churches. I also wonder how many churches close up six days a week and only really open for a few hours on Sunday.
Folks, I would like to make this promise today, as long as God lets me write messages and as long as someone is ready, then I am going to do this... Each morning I get up and Dolores will tell you that I don't know what God is going to give me to write. Sometimes He has me work on a series like for the past few weeks, but even with that, He does not point things out for the next day. He speaks to me in the morning while I write, many times feeding it to me one word at a time. Folks, let me get started on the message with that said, for one good way to please God is to listen to Him.
Living to Please God 3: Hebrews 13:20 - May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, 21 equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (NIV)
I want to take a quick look back at yesterday when I talked to you about the only way to the Father is through Jesus. If you notice in our scripture today you will also see that God will work in us what is pleasing to Him, and that also goes through Jesus Christ. And we are to give the glory to our Lord Jesus. Amen. There is another very, very important scripture found in Hebrews 13, and it is this...
Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (NIV)
Do you have a friend, maybe even a relation, or maybe you can look back to your parents but someone at sometime in your life would be very different from one day to the next? Maybe when you were a child you could do something one day and it would be ok, and the next day maybe you did the same thing and you got a tap on the butt for it. If you look at those people in Washington you can't believe from one day to the next what they are saying for they go by the way the wind blows, or should I say as the polls go. But when we go to the Bible we find that nothing changes, it is the word and as I have told you before that I believe each word in my Bible. I ask questions only to dig deeper into the word of God and to get nearer to the Lord. I laugh when I hear someone talking about a tree that is a million years old or the dinosaurs that are to be so old. No, no, the world is not that old. I believe in the world being created by God in just six days and He rested on the seventh. I believe it all and I believe that we must have faith and by believing all that is in the Bible and living by the examples in the Bible I believe we are pleasing our Lord.
I also love it when God tells us that He is pleased with us. Oh, you say He has never told you He is pleased with You? Did you have breakfast this morning, gosh a good Father gets His children breakfast. You say He never tells you He is pleased with You. Who picks you up and kisses those boo boos and heals them? God the Father loves/loved and always will love His Son Jesus. Listen to these words from God about and to His Son Jesus...
Luke 3:21 - When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as He was praying heaven was opened 22 And the Holy Spirit descended on Him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven; "You are my Son, whom I love, with you I am well pleased." (NIV)
Jesus was baptized by John whom we know as John the Baptist. Jesus did this to set an example for us about being baptized. If we don't get it done will we not get into heaven... No, to get into heaven we just must accept our Lord Jesus as your Savior and repent of sins and work for Him. Being baptized is a great feeling, it is an outward emotion for that inward feeling. Folks, our Lord Jesus never changes but we need to change, each day we should work harder and harder to please Jesus. We should work for Him from dawn to setting sun and that would be the setting sun of our lives... in other words we need to never retire from the service of God.
Ok, live today to please God, see you tomorrow... and remember, today is Salvation Wednesday and if you would lead someone to Jesus I am sure, I am sure that Jesus would be very pleased with you this day.
Dear Father in Heaven... Point those out to us that have not come to You and give us the tools and knowledge to bring in that lost soul to be saved by You. Also, Lord, there is a baby in the womb today that has a cleft lip and we ask that You heal that up before the child is born. Thank You, Lord, for a mother that is keeping this child even with defects... all glory and honor to You, Lord, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Folks, with the tests of today parents can check over children before they are born and if they see a defect a lot of times the child is aborted (murdered). Thanks to my mother for letting me be born for I had defects and still do, but I am working on them through Jesus. Now share those blessings and keep loving and working for Him... Jesus... love ya, Pastor Dan.
