And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with Him to the marriage and the door was shut. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour where in the Son of man cometh.
Salvation Wednesday, my dear brothers and sisters. Rise and shine and head to the fields of harvest to help bring in the lost. You say, hey Pastor Dan, I am heading to work, I can't head to the fields of harvest for the Lord right now! And I tell you this, the fields of harvest are all around us, you and me, they are at the workplace, at schools, at car shows, at the bus museum, on your computer facebook, and folks, so many more places and might include in your own home, meaning are all of your family saved? Let me give you just a hint or two of how you might win one for the Lord, say at your work place. While most workplaces you would not be able to stand up and really preach, but what you can do is... First let the light of Jesus shine in you, live the life of Jesus, not just talk it. You can't tell raw jokes at the drinking fountain or in the coffee room and then try and witness for the Lord... It does not work. If you eat in and you pack your lunch, each day pack a little extra, something to share. Or maybe, and it might cost you a few dollars or so, but save your money and then one day you say, hey tomorrow I am buying the pizza and you "share your blessings". Soon people will trust in you and you will be able to talk to them about Jesus. What not to do in my opinion is to "jam" your Bible under a person's nose and yell, see here if you don't do this you are not going to heaven. While the Bible tells us the rules and the truth, you don't win them for the Lord by pushing; however, you do need know where to find the scriptures and have your Bible ready. Maybe get a nice little one or a paperback and keep it at work. You also might want to keep an extra, new Bible in your desk drawer, and give one away once in a while.
Please pray today and till next week for my baby daughter Leann as she rides her Harley to a Bike Meet in New Hampshire, pray for the others on their motorcycles also.
What's in a Name? 7: Matthew 25:10 - And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with Him to the marriage and the door was shut. 13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour where in the Son of man cometh. (KIVA)
I want to give proper credit today, while most all of my work comes from the Bible, I do have A Barbour Book on the names of Jesus. I do check all of the scriptures that are listed in my Bible, either the King James Version and/or the New International Version and never use the writing in the book, God gives me daily what He wants me to write. This book was gifted me back in 1996 by Patty (Mowery) McCullough. Thanks again, Patty.
Ok, looking at the names in these two verses, we find one name for God is The Bridegroom and what a great day for us to look at our Lord Jesus as the Bridegroom, for it is Salvation Wednesday. In the New International Version of the Bible it talks about "The Virgins who were ready". Now let me talk about that a bit. How can we who have had children become a virgin? Well, first of all think of sin, not sex, and since Jesus is the Bridegroom, think of all of us being His bride. When we come to Jesus and we are saved, we are a virgin from sin, ready to be the bride of Jesus, but wait a minute, what if we sin again? Gosh, over the years, how many times have I "lost my virginity" when it come to sin? In sex you can only lose it once, and that is why it was so important for God the Father to find a virgin to bear Jesus. Mary got that call, The Blessed Virgin Mary.
So, sisters, while you will look good I am sure in your wedding gown of white, how will we men look? I can see it now, me with my long flowing white hair and long white beard out over that white dress instead of my Santa suit. Ladies, when you stop laughing, think about the men in your family who are saved and how they will look. While I am making joke about the wedding gowns and having some fun with this today, I am serious about the subject. We must give our sins over to the Lord, then we become free of sin, and we must try hard to be sin-free and it is really hard.
Also in Matthew 25, verse 13, we see another name for God is Son of man. Yes, names for our Lord are both Son of God and Son of man. Let's do one more name today. And I really love this one. Ok, I love them all...
John 1:1 - In the beginning was The Word, and The Word was with God and The Word was God. (NIV)
Our God is The Word. The Word, another name for our Lord and I love it and here is why I love it so much. First of all when God created the heavens and the earth, how did He create it? He spoke it, it was The Word of God that made it all, except man of course that we came from dirt and the breath of God. Also when I think of The Word, it is to me what is found in the Bible, The Inspired Word of God. But it gets better, folks, it gets better. We go to John 1:14...
John 1:14 - The Word became Flesh and and made His dwelling among us, we have seen His glory.
Yes, The Word became flesh, The Word is the truth, The Word is great...
Dear Father in Heaven, thanks be to You, we do have the truth, for Your word is the truth, and if we follow the truth, we find it will set us free. Meaning to me, Lord, that You will set us free. Please, Lord, be with those bikers, and my baby, Your child, and keep her safe, and Lord, thanks for freeing us from sin, and thanks for trusting us to work the fields of harvest for You, open doors for us, and help us understand that we cannot save a soul, but we sure can work for You bringing the lost to Your feet. Thanks for all the names we find in our Bibles that we can call you, and when we call on You. Thanks for hearing our prayers of today and the days gone by... In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Now go forth sharing your blessings and getting ready to be the Bride of Jesus if you have not made the investment in Him, get cracking, time is passing by and we do not know when He is coming. Love ya... Pastor Dan.
