"I am the Living Bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."
TOMORROW IS FLAG DAY, PLEASE PUT OUT YOUR FLAG, FLY OUR COLORS... GO USA.
Good Monday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. It is Monday and a wonderful Monday morning indeed. Monday and the day we pray for our leaders, our President, our Governors, our local officials, etc. It is also the day we pray for our veterans, our current military, our police, firefighters, doctors, nurses, and all those who work to keep us safe and healthy. Folks, I have missed this one for years, when we pray for our leaders, please pray for JESUS, for He is our real leader above all others.
Please pray for these military folks by Name... Navy, Daniel Lehman, and Army, Timothy VanAuken; Veterans Navy, Sharon Saylor, Sterling Funch, Air Force, Dolores Lehman.
Brothers and sisters, let's build a veterans list and military list. Send me names of those in the military or veterans who have served before and I will put together a list and we will post them to be prayed over.
Pray for Kathleen Sansoni, who has cancer and is down to 90 pounds, and for her husband Tom. Please keep them in your daily prayers. Please pray for Patsy Emig, York Hospital, and for her husband Burt.
We have been asked to seek out an electric lawn mower (working), this sent in by a prayer warrior.
PICNIC. JULY 2nd 2011, Willow Mill Park, Silver Spring Twp, just off route 114. Bring your lawn chair. Eating at noon, all food and drinks are furnished and I am the cook.. And now is the time to announce our special guest singer.
I have told you that I think he is the best baritone singer ever and it is confirmed, HE WILL BE HERE FOR OUR PICNIC. He will start singing about 11:00 AM and sing some before lunch and some after lunch. HIS NAME "TIMOTHY BEITZEL". Oh, and this baritone singer can get down low as he sang bass for "The Brotherhood" and bass/baritone for the great COURIERS. I am excited about this and happy to tell you this. Tim is a personal friend, a prayer warrior on this line, a supporter and worker for our food pantry. You don't want to miss this.
Also during our meal time we are going to open our mikes up to some folks who want to sing, so if you want to give it a try, bring your sound track (no piano) and give it a shot. Gospel, oldies, as long is it is good music. We in Carry The Light might sing one or two numbers as we want to sing at least one with Tim.
It is rain or shine, folks, and we are going to have a good time. Our family is coming, our flock from the Bridges is coming, and we want you there also for you are from our flock and of course you may bring your family. You might want to bring a lawn chair and do some sitting along the creek.
WHAT'S IN A NAME 5: John 6:51 - "I am the Living Bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." (NIV)
Yes, another week of What's in a Name and as I start I want you to remember that next Sunday is "Fathers' Day." What would be a good gift for your earthly father, your good old dad? How about a good "Study Bible" maybe in large print if he is getting older? I like the NIV but to my kids on the line, I do not need a Bible, but Chevrolet is building a new car that the top goes down on. Just kidding kids, I would love some canned goods for the food pantry. I do not need a thing in life but a call and a hug and kiss. Ok, what is in a name?
Let's look at John 6:51 and see that another name for God is "Living Bread" and the scripture is in the words of Jesus. If we eat of this bread which is the flesh of Jesus we will live forever. Jesus here is looking forward to His day on the cross when His flesh is broken and busted up for us. And His blood is given for us. This, my friends, is why we have communion which is very special to me and should be to you. When we have communion we look at the bread as the body, or the flesh of our Lord Jesus and we should not look at communion lightly. I also want to remind you that "as often as you eat of it, you should do it in remembrance of Him." What this means to me is when you break bread at a meal, you should not just be saying thanks for the food, but also remembering what our Lord did on the cross. for our God is indeed "The Living Bread". Let's go to another name.
John 8:12 - When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, "I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (NIV) Just another name of our God, "The Light of the World". So let me tell you what this means to me. Jesus being the light of the world and once we are saved and we are in tight with Jesus and we are going into the world we should be telling people about Jesus and lighting the way for them. We should be telling others about this light, this wonderful wonderful Light. Now I want to bring out another scripture and then put the two together.
Mark 16:15 - He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." (NIV)
Now if I take and couple up these two scriptures, Mark 16:15 with John 8:12, and put them into my words it would be something like this. CARRY THE LIGHT!! and now you know where the name of our ministry came from. Our ministry partner, Pamela Bower, and I were in a Bible study together way, way back in the day. The Bible study was the book of Mark with the late Pastor Karen Engle Layman and we had just started singing, and were looking for a name for the group. Thus the birth of Carry The Light Ministries. Now, folks, let me ask you, how do you carry The Light? And I would like to hear from you on that one.
I do want to mention two wonderful folks that have carried The Light many places, and one of the places was here at our home. Thanks to Wanda and Grant Crockett who carry The Light in their lives we have a great looking landscape this year instead of weeds. We have so many others who work with us in the food pantry and those carry The Light... Jesus, THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD, and we need to take that Good News to the world... One person cannot do it all... Just think about Christmas Eve when they turn out the lights and each person gets one candle and lights it... If everyone would light just one candle it would be a bright, bright world, but only if the light was from Jesus... Amen.
Dear Father in Heaven, please bless this line, bless all those on our prayer list, bless the couple married by Pastor Larry and also the couple that I married this past weekend. And Lord, please look at our other prayer requests. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
And now, brothers and sisters, go forth and share your blessings and serve your Lord Jesus.
Love ya, Pastor Dan.
