Good Beautiful Monday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. And here at the Southern Location of the North Pole, it indeed is a beauty! Yet, at my age, if I can wake up, the day is a beauty. AMEN.
Monday and the day our prayer list is the longest. Veterans, and please remember that we have veterans who are 18 years old and in our military hospitals. Military, regardless of where they serve, and please note five of our fighting warriors were killed just yesterday in Iraq. President Obama, and all the others who have authority over us as leaders of this country. Even if you don't like them, pray for them and please pray for their salvation foremost. Police, firefighters, people who are EMTs or with the FBI, CIA and all those other lettered people who watch over our health and safety, and by all means remember your doctors in prayer.
Reminder, Carry The Light Ministries, picnic. July 2nd at Willow Mill Park. We will be eating at noon, there will be some really great music before and after lunch, and hey, if you want to sing, we can make it happen, bring your back track and you can have a go at it. Gospel, Patriotic, or some nice oldies only. And if all works out we will be having the WORLDS BEST, Baritone gospel singer with us that day. As soon as I have the final conformation I will give you his name.
What's in a Name? Week 1, Day 1: Psalm 24:10 - Who is He, this King of Glory? The Lord Almighty, He is the King of Glory! (NIV)
Throughout our Bible there are many, many names of our Lord God, many, so many it will more than likely take a couple of weeks to get through them all. If you know what Your name means, why not send it to me and I will post it... For example, Daniel means "God is my Judge". I wish someone would have told me that in my younger years...
Let's look at Psalm 24:10 and get started. If you read the scripture over a few times you will find four names for God. Let's look closely again. Who is He, this King of Glory? The Lord Almighty, He is the King of Glory! This one verse tells us He, God, is King, and He is the King of Glory. That would be two. And He is Lord. That would be three. And of course He is Almighty. That would be four.
Want to call out the name of Jesus in public? You can just shout out WELL, GLORY! As the late great bass singer George Younce would say, "If you get one of them stuck in you, it could hurt you." So don't be afraid to shout it out... READY, WELL, GLORY... I can't hear you!! WELL, GLORY! Ok, if that is the best you can do in the morning.
Psalm 148:13 - Let them Praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is Exalted, His splendor is above the earth and the heavens. (NIV)
Wow, His name is Exalted, His Splendor is above the earth and heavens. Two names in there, Exalted, and Splendor... And now, watch this folks,
Psalm 148:13 - Let them praise the name of the Lord for His name alone is Excellent: His glory is above the earth and heaven. (KJV)
Notice the difference in the two versions of the Bible. From the New International (NIV) we see His name is Exalted, from the King James Version (KJV) we see his name is Excellent. Hey, they both work for me.
My dear brothers and sisters, a dear friend of mine and one of the greatest lead singers and song writers in all of gospel music, the Reverend Neil Enloe, wrote a song about "His name is more than a swearword." Chances are I have that title wrong, but His song talks about things God has done and that His name is more than a swearword and I am praying that before this series is over you will have so many names for our Lord God that when you hear someone use a swearword, you will have something to say back and the courage to say it. When I was but a child, I thought that one of the names for God was "Lye" for when I would use a swearword, my dear late mamma would say, you do not use those words and she said I am getting out the Lye soap... For you young people on the line, Lye Soap was homemade soap, made from lard and lye. How in the world did it get you clean when made from lard? But it did, and take it from me, it cleaned the inside and out. But to get it straight, a name for God could never be lye, or lie, for the fact is God is THE TRUTH, and as I tell my flock at the Bridges and I have often told you, I believe what is in the Bible, ALL OF IT, for it is the truth.
Ok, we got off to a good start, so tomorrow we look at more names of our Lord God...
Dear Father in Heaven, and yes my dear Father, Father is indeed another name for You. Lord, clean us this day as we start forward with our work and play, and Lord, be with us and help us to repent of sin, stay clean of sin, and travel in Your footsteps. Please look at our prayer list and also that one that just came in from Pastor Larry and act on them according to Your will. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Now go forth and share your blessings. Love ya... Pastor Dan... And now I must stop for I have two silver haired dogs, Martin and Marlow who want held a bit... God is so good...
