Get those buses in gear as we move out with Jesus in His younger years ...
In the Bible, and following in the book of Luke, we go from about two weeks old to about 12 years old ... So let me just look at those early years and run it through my mind ... What might have Jesus been doing in those years ...
Well first we knew that His earthly father Joseph obeyed the word of God sent through an angel of the Lord in a dream for him to pack up his family and get out of town ... Hide from King Herod and his warriors, as those warriors had orders from the king to kill all males under the age of two years old ... This of course would also mean John, as in John the Baptist ...
Now I can only run my mind on these first years and look back to when I was a child and also on our children of today. Yes we have grandchildren in that age bracket ... I would think that Jesus, being a young boy, would want to watch TV, play some games on the computer, and maybe enjoy a game of football or soccer ... Yes of course I am kidding. I remember those early years for me, for we of course did not have computers and only some families had television, and we were not one of those ... I remember playing with toy trucks, cars and buses along with my toy trains in our basement and also out in the flower garden in the backyard ... Oh how I love those trucks, buses, cars, motorcycles and trains. The only thing that has changed today is the size and the price of those toys. Today the kids have computers and all those other games to play... but what about Jesus...
Well with his earthly father being a carpenter, I would think that Jesus had toys made out of wood ... I would also think that Jesus would hang out with his father in the woodshed, and man when my dad sent me to the woodshed it sure was different and for a different reason. Now what toys might Jesus have ... Gosh they did not have cars and trucks so that thinking is out of the question, but I would think that maybe Jesus might have built, well maybe made out of wood, what might have been the very first homemade nativity set ... I would think that at a very young age Jesus would be working, not just playing ... I look today at our Amish and see how their boys are put in fields at a young age and the girls working in the gardens and with their mothers at that young age also.
I would think that Jesus also learned to take care of animals, and taking care of cleaning the barn, etc. I would think that maybe Jesus might do some milking and other farming chores that needed done ... I would think that his father would also take time to teach Jesus to fish. And I would think that Jesus would also grow up learning the chores of the young girls so that He could be a big help to His mother ... So Jesus I think would be helping with the cooking and getting of the food, and even bringing in that harvest ... You remember how God had placed Adam in that wonderful garden but because of their sins, the garden would now need worked and weeded, and I would think that just because Jesus was also the Son of our Heavenly Father He would get no special treatment on earth ...
Of course these are all things that God planted on my mind about what Jesus might have done and there is more of course, but now I would like to hear from you ... Remember you can do this from our new blog site "Carry The Light For Jesus", http://carrythelight4jesus.blogspot.com/
Tomorrow we are going to pick up on the trip with Jesus as a boy, and at the Temple of the Lord ...
Lets pray... Lord Jesus how we love You, how we adore You, and we just thank You and praise You today for all You do for us. Lord be with our veterans and we give You thanks for them as they, over the years have fought and many have given all for our freedom ... As You Jesus gave us our personal freedom, our men and women of our military have given of themselves to keep our country free.
I pray for veterans "Bob" who is in the arms of Jesus for His care, and also for Stanley who was very tired after his big hunting trip ... Please Lord take care of these fine men ... And Lord please watch over Vicki who has some health issues and watch over our military, each and every one of them and over all of our leaders and future leaders and please dear Lord take care of the children of the Obamas. Lord, touch them, and Lord thanks for this line, and taking care of it ... Lord most of all this day, may we walk in Your light, walk and live to please You... In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Now go forth sharing Your blessings, and loving each other, regardless how they look or their skin color ... Folks remember please that we are all made in the image of God ... So keep working hard to keep God smiling on you ... and yes I will say it again, share your blessings ... love ya, dan.
