Friday: Working for Jesus!

Up in the morning, out on the job, working for Jesus for no pay! And it feels so, so good.

He (Jesus) said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." (NIV)

Dear brothers and sisters, on this Friday and the day we pray for those who carry out this commandment of our Lord Jesus, I want to ask you to ask your heart this question ... Am I working for Jesus, or just sort of "hanging out" and saying I am ... Working for Jesus is not just living a clean life and loving Him, it is getting involved in taking that good news to others ... And each and everyone of us needs to be doing it.

When we read our Bibles we can find many places where God really commands us to do things ... We so often just think about the ten commandments and then again the two great commandments, but we forget about all the others, and this is just one of them. Next week I will pull those buses back out and travel first with John the Baptist and then with Jesus, but for now, I want to ask you again, are you traveling for Jesus? Our military veterans have a saying that goes something like this. "All gave some and some gave all" when they are talking about those served in the military ... When it comes to our Christian Army, may I just put this quote from me in front of you ... "One gave all and all should give some", but sad to say there are far more people that do not work for Jesus then those that do. And I am just talking about those of us who say we are Christians ... Think about it, think about your church and the flock at your church, do you let most of the work there up to a few? I answer that for you, Yes you do ... When in fact each and every person who attends a church should also be on board doing something in their mission work ... And I am not just talking about singing in the choir, which I think is important, but I am talking about going into the fields of Harvest ... For those who are in a flock, and if, and that can be a big if, if that church has a really good pastor who is born again, he can attend to that flock ... but the flock needs to get into the fields ...

I will get into trouble for saying this one, but all too many people get attached to "their seat" in a church ... You come in, and you see the same person in the same seat week after week ... Tell me I am wrong on this, I would love to hear that. Each and every person in a church setting should have outside duties for Jesus ... and they do not need to be sponsored by that church ...

So brothers and sisters, let me just give you a few examples of some things you might do to work for Jesus ... Do you know that seniors in retirement homes often do not get visitors, and often their eyes do not let them read the Bible anymore ... How wonderful it would be if once a week you went to a retirement home and read your Bible to someone, or did a Bible study.. Now I think about the senior community as that is where Dolores and I head with Pam and Carry The Light Ministries, but there are prisons, schools, yes I said schools, for most now have Christians Clubs ... There are clubs, gyms, food banks, food pantries, soup kitchens, and I could go on and on ... In fact you could even pick up trash along our highways ... Put on shirts that tell folks you are cleaning up for Jesus ...

This is what I am talking about ... So many people sit in church watching their watch, and it amazes me that we do not have car crashes on church parking lots as people speed getting off the lot ...

Now the very best way to get started working for Jesus is praying for your assignment and then listening to where God wants you to go ... Please remember this, when He sends you, He will open the doors and He will furnish all the tools you need for the job ... Folks once you get started in these fields, God will expand them for you ... Speaking again from doing, I remember putting out my first street sign for Jesus at a service station ... What, a message from God at a service station? Then it was on to riding cycle with the Christian groups and learning to talk to the other groups ... Then off to singing, and then we added teaching and preaching, and a food bank. Folks I am not looking for rewards on what we do, I am just telling you there is a job in these fields for each of you ... each and everyone of you ... So today I want to just repeat this commandment of our Lord Jesus.

Mark 16: 15 He (Jesus) said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." (NIV)

Please remember that your neighborhood, your community, your city are all part of the world that Jesus is talking about, and the folks that live there are part of that creation ... If you truly love your neighbor and truly care about them, you will want to see them saved, see them born again ...

Dear Father in Heaven, please bless us with the knowledge we need to go to the fields and get to work for You, also help us to move that product we call lead that has formed in the seat of our pants out of that area so we can get up off the chair and go working for You ... Lord today we are expecting an assignment ... And Lord we in Carry The Light are looking for more places to go and sing the gospel ... Open doors as we call please. Lord keep all Your workers safe in the fields, and help us as we go to know when it does become time to dust our feet and move on ... Lord help us get into studies we need to do Your work ... Lord, help us ... And Lord thanks for the good results on Beverly and also Blanch, and now we ask that You heal our beloved Pastor Carol who has broken a hip ... Bless this worker of You, and heal her to be back in the fields ... In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Now go forth working those fields, and yes, sharing your blessings in faith. Sharing what God has given you is one way to be working for Jesus ... So why not start today by sharing those blessings? love ya , dan ... Have a blessed weekend.
