Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, not your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, not the alien within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but He rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
Salvation Wednesday, my dear brothers and sisters, and I am running late today. Yes, being blessed again, had to pick up bread at the food store that was donated to Carry The Light Food Pantry...
Salvation Wednesday, the day in the middle of the week when we sort of break from all the other prayers to pray for the lost, and pray that God will use us to help bring in the lost.
I do want to put this out today, our dear President is using a scare tactic telling seniors and others who live off of the social security that they, in most cases, have paid into that system, might not be checks in the bank for them on August 3, 2011 if Congress does not raise the debt ceiling. Folks, don't let the scare tactics get to you, trust in God to supply your needs, NOT THE GOVERNMENT. All of us, and yes, my wife and I after paying into the "system" get those checks also, and we all should have food laid back for those rainy days. Our nation is in trouble just like a lot of Americans, you can't keep living on borrowed money. You put your credit card to the max and they raise the limits, and that is what the USA is doing. It needs to stop... Again, I say, don't let the man in the White House scare you. Think about it, and trust only in God... who is THE MAN to trust... (and that is basic). If it does happen, and you don't have food laid back, CALL US, WE WILL HAVE FOOD FOR YOU.
Back To The Basics Day 7: Exodus 20:8 - Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, not your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, not the alien within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but He rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. (NIV)
This might be one of the hardest one of the commandments to look at and do exactly as it is worded in the Bible... Work for six days and then on the seventh day we rest and keep it holy and that seventh day we are not to be working or causing others to work. We are not to work our manservants or maidservants, and not even our animals. First of all let's look at a couple of basic things. Hospitals are open and must be open and those tending the sick must work. Nursing homes are open and those attending the elderly must work. So I ask, how do we get around these kind of things? Do you remember and we will look close at it on another day, but do you remember Jesus healing on the Sabbath day and even saying a man must also take care of his livestock each and everyday? So to me it is pretty basic what we must do and it will cover it all. First and foremost we should live each day for our Lord Jesus and respect Him in all we do, and that would mean to me that each day would be kept Holy. Each day, I said, and beside that who is going to say which is the seventh day that we should be resting on? Our Jewish brothers and sisters have their Holy Day from sundown on Fridays to sundown on Saturdays, also there are Christian churches that use Saturday as their Sabbath, while most Christians use Sunday. Again I think we should keep each day Holy, and I think we should be always ready to do the work of the Lord, as in telling others the good, good news. As far as that day of rest, if a person works six days, they should rest one and I think that is what God wants us to do... If you are a person who must work on the weekends, surely you would get another day off to rest your body.
Basic here is that we do not want to do anything that would offend God on any day of the week, so let us all work to keep them all holy and in line with the way God wants us to live. And I think we can do that by loving God and loving others... Just think about this for a minute. We Christians, including most all pastors, will talk about that Sabbath Day and keeping it Holy and resting on it, yet when church is over on Sundays do we not all want to run out to eat in some restaurant where we expect there will be someone to cook and also to wait on us? And if we go home to eat, we expect someone will do the cooking. Do you see what I am saying on this one?Honor God seven days a week, and try your best to rest your body on one of those days so you don't wear the old body out to soon. I would love to hear other opinions on this one.
Dear Father in Heaven, we do want to follow Your teachings and this one is hard to get done, so we look at Jesus who worked on the Sabbath by healing and also spoke of those who had animals to attend. Please help us stay in line with the teachings of Jesus and help us to work for Him and not to sin. In the name of Jesus, Amen... Oh, and Lord, please use us to help bring in the lost. Thanks... Amen.
Now go forth and share those blessings, and yes, I would think we need to do that seven days a week... love ya, Pastor Dan.
