Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Good Friday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. Wow, I am early once. It is Friday and the day we pray for all those who are working the fields of Harvest for our Lord Jesus.
Luke 10:2 - He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of Harvest, therefore to send out workers into His harvest field." (NIV) These words of our Lord will tell you just why I say to you very often, are you on this prayer list? Or are you one who is working for the "other guy"? Are you going out working for Jesus, telling the good news of Jesus? By the way, I am writing on Thursday late evening due to the fact that for a while now I will be taking Dolores to the doctors for a "special shot." And that appointment is early. I would appreciate your prayers this weekend and next as I am marrying couples on both Saturdays. Also please let me know if you don't receive this!!
Helping Others Day 5: Matthew 20:28 - Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. (NIV)
Helping Others, the subject we have been talking about all week. How are you helping others? Why should we help others? How could we help others? What can we do to help others? Let's look at some of these questions as we round out our week of helping others.
But first I must tell you this. This morning Dolores and I sat down to pray as we do daily. We prayed about you, our on-line brothers and sisters, we prayed about our flock at The Bridges and knowing we had a lot of food that we picked up, in one of our ministry trailers, we asked God if possible to send up some help. I did not put feet on this prayer and call anyone, I was cooking today, as I love to cook and then share the food. About noon Grant Crockett called and asked if we needed anything done or help with anything. Long story short, at 12.30 PM they came and got all the food out of the trailer, sorted it and put it on the shelves, while I was cooking. IS GOD GOOD OR WHAT, God still answers prayers, here is just another example. And also an example of helping others. Grant and Wanda did not just help us, but it also helps those coming for food, and of course they are working for the Lord. Dolores and I had also packed food for some of those who come to us for help. Now let's go to work on those questions. Let's take them one at a time.
How are you helping others? Well, you are going to send me an email so I can share that with others. RIGHT?
Why should we help others? That is easy, because Jesus has told us that we need to do that. We looked at those examples from the Bible all week, and we need to work for Him.
How could we help others? What can we do to help others? There are lots of ways we could help others, but some of those things that we could do, maybe, just maybe we would need help, big projects so to speak. What can we do to help others? You might say, I just don't know what to do to help others. Let me suggest that you might find some older person who because of his or her eyesight they can no longer read their Bible, so you could take some time and read to them. Maybe working out of something like "Our Daily Bread". Maybe you would not see them daily, so you can do a few days at a time. You see, helping others does not always mean reaching in your pocket, or giving of food, or clothes, etc. but sharing of your talents. Are you a person with a nice dog, find out about taking them to a retirement home just to let people pet it. Know of a shut in, or someone who struggles walking, maybe you could do their grocery shopping, and I don't mean with your money, you just do the labor. Use your brain and get to thinking about these things. You might even do some lawn work at your church as one example we should of this week.
One last thing today. Let's look at the scripture of today, "Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many." Jesus did not come down as man so He could be served, He came to serve others. So let's follow His example and let us, the best we can, serve others. With that said, we also need to learn how to be a good receiver of things given to us.
Jesus also gave His life as ransom for our sins, we need to accept that love of Jesus. Today we have many men and women who put their lives on the line for us daily. They are our police, firefighters and of course our military men and women. Jesus paid our ransom for our sins. He covered our sins with His blood. Ok, now it is your turn, time to be helping others, and you just cannot go wrong when you follow the teachings of our Lord Jesus... Amen.
Dear Father in Heaven, we want to work for you helping others, we want to work those fields of Harvest for You, and we want to help others. However, we need Your help to get it done. Help us starting right now, Lord. I am humbled when making this request, and do it in the name of Jesus. All honor and glory is Yours, Jesus. Amen.
Share those blessings, help others and know that I love ya. Pastor Dan.
