The woman said to the serpent, "we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, 'you must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'"
Good Thursday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. It is Thursday and the day we pray for our families and for our schools, and please remember to pray for the family of God, you are in good standing in that family RIGHT?? At the end of the message today you will find the Pledge of allegiance to the United States of America Flag and also the Pledge of allegiance to the Christian Flag which is called the "Pledge of our Faith."
Yesterday Dolores and I headed out to a new doctor for her, one to deal with an oncoming kidney concern. Her "numbers" have been off in blood tests. Please pray for her, as she has been told she is in "stage three" of kidney failure. That is all we know, more tests on Friday morning to find the cause. Of course we know the cure, it is in the hands of Jesus, for His will to be done.
Back To The Basics, Day 3: Genesis 3:2 - The woman said to the serpent, "we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'you must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'"
Again, thanks to all who have responded to the question of the day, of what was the first commandment given by God to man. Think with me, folks, as we are going back to the basics.
Let's look at a few basic things around the house today, and see if we can figure out why some things might not work... Your electric is not working, nothing is working. Basic questions, first is the power down all over the neighborhood or is it just your house? Just your house, you say. Ok, did the bill get paid? About as basic as you can get. You want to have some toast for breakfast, so what do you put in the toaster? If you said toast you were wrong, you put bread in it. Basic, then after four minutes it did not pop up, what do you check first... The plug? No, that would be second, first I would check to see if I pushed the thing down. Basic stuff, you go out to get into your car and something looks different, it is leaning to one side... what do you check? The tires, do they have air in them? Now I could go on and on, but you are getting the picture for today. Ok, one more, you are going to the dentist, what should one remember to do first? Brush your teeth? Ok, I can live with that one... what would be second? How about you put them in your mouth!
Ok, let's look at some basic things when we want to learn more about Jesus and salvation, where do we start, what is the basic place to start? These could be in different orders, I guess. One would be to get out your Bible, but you must go on a tad from there, you must open it and read it. So to me, I think a good basic starting place is a GOOD church where the truth is taught and explained. And a network of good Christian friends. If you want to learn more about Jesus you will find out more about Him in church than you will the neighborhood bar.
One of the first things that we need to do when talking about basics as they relate to our religion is to trust and have faith. Jesus is the backbone of our religion and that is why we are called Christian or Christ-like. To be Christ-like we need to follow the teachings of who? Your church? Your preacher? No, you need to follow the teachings of Jesus, which should be taught in your church by your pastor.
So you see when I asked you about this first commandment that was given to man, what do we need to remember? God commanded Adam and Eve to not eat from that one tree. I call it a command because God did not say, please do not eat from that one tree, or try not to eat from that tree, God flat out said, if you eat from it you will die and before that you will have pain in childbirth and men will need to weed their gardens (or get married and get their wife to do it). Ok, folks, no tricks for tomorrow, we are going to look over some other commandments tomorrow, and we might touch on some from what we call the ten commandments. Do you know that I am following one of the commands of God as I type this message to all of you? What is it? Look in Mark 16:15 and see what it tells you to do. That is your home work... Oh, and we are also not to throw stones at sinners unless we never sinned... Have you ever sinned? Caution here, your answer could be a sin!
Dear Father in Heaven, I just love it when you give me messages like this, ones that show and teach and not just teach others but also teach me. I know and have said many times, I think you give me the messages so that I learn from them and that makes sense to me, for if I can't learn from writing them, how can others learn from them? Lord, lead us this day, and please, please consider sending Jesus back for us soon. In the name of Jesus I do ask this, Until the day You send Him back, please give me the wisdom and strength to keep working for You, helping to bring in the lost... In Jesus' name I bring forth this message and my prayers. Amen.
Now go forth, following Jesus and His commandments and sharing your blessings... Helping the poor and needy... Love ya, Pastor Dan.
Now for the Pledges, and the Pledge to the Christian Flag is from Harvest Church in sunny Florida, Pastor Phil Enloe. Thanks, Pastor, for the reminder.
"Pledge to the United States of America" - I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, One Nation UNDER GOD, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
"Pledge of our Faith", "I pledge allegiance to the Christian Flag and to the Savior for whose Kingdom it stands. One Savior, crucified, risen, and coming again with life and liberty to all who believe."
