And God spoke all these words. "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery." "You shall have no other gods before me."
Good Monday Morning to all of you, my dear brothers and sisters in Jesus. It is just a beautiful morning here at the Southern Location of the North Pole. Monday and the day we pray for our President, and all of our other leaders. We pray for veterans, current military members, police, firefighters, and all others who help to keep us safe and healthy, and please remember this day your family doctor. And please pray hard for our president, first for his salvation and for that of his family and then that before he brings anything to our country, that he runs it past the Lord and LISTENS TO HIM.
Back To The Basics, day 5: Exodus 20:1 - And God spoke all these words. 2 "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery." 3 "You shall have no other gods before me."
Ok, we are back to the basics for some more of that ground level re-learning or we might say, taking a fresh look at all of those basics. Some will be from The Bible, The Inspired Word of God, while others might be from what our mothers and fathers taught us. Maybe some from our school teachers.
I would love to hear from you about some of the basics that you learned over the years. For you seniors on the line, if you ever go to a driver training, you will find that a lot of what you learn is just basic stuff. Example here is one basic rule in driving... Don't drink and Drive! NOT EVEN ONE DRINK! Here is one more.
A few years back, a new law started. You can now turn right on a red light unless restricted by a sign. But wait a minute, I missed something in that statement, as most people also miss it. You may turn right on a red light AFTER STOPPING AND CHECKING TO SEE IF ANYONE IS COMING.
It is very basic, my dear driving brothers and sisters.
In our scripture today you will see it is the start of the scriptures that bring forth what is known as the ten commandments. I want you to notice right up front that the commandments come right from God and I think that is very basic. God did not have, nor does he have, "speech writers" like our President, who more than likely does not even go over a speech until he reads it off the teleprompter.
Could you picture it, Hi God, Moses here, and here is your speech for today, in it you are going to be talking about the commandments. No, no, God did not need anyone to speak for Him then and He surely does not need anyone to speak for Him now. However, He does expect all of us to relay what He speaks to others or tell them the good, good news. God still speaks to us these days, the question I have about that is do we take time to listen or do we listen to those other voices that come into our heads from time to time?
Remember when God made the heavens and the earth, He spoke it into being. He spoke to Adam and Eve and to Noah, and He spoke to Moses and He has spoken to me. He wants no other gods before Him... None, no other gods, meaning your money or your property or even your family. God should be in the first position in your heart, in your family, in your business or in your workplace. And God should be in first position in our public schools, and parents, it is up to you to be sure your children keep God first even in school.
It seems to me that one of the most basic things we can do is to let God lead us in all we do, call on Him to help us and also work for Him to get His word out. Is God first in your life today? If not, let's pray now that you will put Him in that spot...
Dear Father in Heaven, we do want You in the number one spot in all we do, in our homes, in our driving, in church, at work, regardless of what we do, Lord, forgive us when we put other people or things in front of You. Lord, we love You, love You very much. We need to repent, Lord, of our sins and to do that we need Your help. Please help us this day. Please be with our president and all of his staff and all of our leaders, may we truly be one nation under God. I love you, Lord, please take care of our veterans and our troops and Lord, please help us to love You and others. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Now go forth, honoring God by keeping Him first in Your life... And please remember to share your blessings, and that should be very basic to all of us in all we do... One other thing. When getting dressed, the tag goes on the inside and on the back. My mamma taught me that. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
