November 7, 2010 Docking The Boat 4

He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. When the dove returned to him in the evening there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth.

Good families and schools day Thursday, my dear brothers and sisters. We are having a light rain this morning here at the Southern Location of the North Pole, and Praise the Lord, we do not need to shovel rain. Please keep Vicki in your prayers today. Also Dolores and I would appreciate your prayers as we go into a very, very busy season. Our run at Allenberry Playhouse as Santa and Mrs. Claus started in full yesterday, please pray that we get to pray and talk about Jesus to many folks. We have a really nice time at Allenberry and they pay us in turkeys and hams for the food bank. Last year for our efforts we received 50 turkeys and 50 hams. God is good. We are also receiving daily calls for food, and have now been hooked up with the "Help Hot Line" and we will be listed with other food banks as a place to call for food help in our area.

Docking The Boat 4: Genesis 8:10 - He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. 11 When the dove returned to him in the evening there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth. 12 He waited seven more days and sent the dove out again, but this time it did not return to him. 13 By the first day of the first month of Noah's six hundred and first year, the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. 14 By the twenty seventh day of the second month the earth was completely dry. (NIV)

I can't help but wonder if Noah's sons and their wives were thinking by now... LET US OUT OF HERE!! Come on, dad, it will be ok, we are big kids and we will not get hurt. But Noah was being so careful, after all, God put him in charge of, well, of the whole world. Think of it, except for the fish of the sea, Noah had every living thing inside the ark and it was up to him to protect it for God. What an assignment God gave to Noah. Think about that and then think about some of the assignments that God has handed over to us. Can you think of any? Come on now, can you think of just a few assignments that God has handed over for us to carry out? Let's look at a few as we wait out another seven days in the ark. Let's just list some of them.

God commanded us to Love Him. (Luke 10:26/28)
God commanded us to Love our Neighbors. (Luke 10:26/28)
God gave us the ten commandments to follow. (Exodus 20)
God commanded us to go into all the world and preach the Good News. (Mark 16:15)
God commanded us to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, help the stranger. (Mathew 25:35/36)
God commanded us to be fruitful and increase in number. (Genesis 9:1)

Now that is just a few, but I need to list just a couple more because they are so important.

Forgive others as you want to be forgiven. (Lord's Prayer)
To see The Father in Heaven, you must go through His Son Jesus. (John 14:6)

Tomorrow we are going to get out of the ark and find out about what God tells us to do, and about the Covenant that He made with us, and the reminder He set for Himself.

Dear Father in Heaven, thanks for all You do for all of us. Thanks for pointing out just a few of the many, many things that You have commanded us to do, and also thank You for showing us how to do things as we walk in the light of Jesus. God, You are wonderful and I ask this day for You to help us repent and to help us all to walk in the light of Jesus. Step by step as a child learning to walk, for, Lord, we are sinners and we need to learn to walk in Your light. Help us, Lord, help us. Be in our families, and be in our schools and bless them, Lord. And Lord, be in John Harris High School, in the Harrisburg School District, as they have race and gang fighting going on. Lord, we need to help our youth, and we need to teach them. Lord, good kids are afraid to go to school and they should not need to be that way. Lord, make our schools safe for all. Lord, bless this line and also, Lord, bless our mission for You, not just the mission of Dolores and myself, but the missions of all on the line. In the name of Jesus, I pray... Amen.

Now go forth and share your blessings, love your neighbors and for those who you need to forgive, and folks, you really do know who they are... you need to work on that. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
