After forty days Noah opened the window he had made in the ark and sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth. Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. But the dove could find no place to set its feet because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark.
Salvation Wednesday Eve, my dear brothers and sisters, and yes, I am now going to try and start writing in the evenings. We are now in full gear for our Christmas rush and are getting very, very, very busy. More and more people are calling on us to help with food, and Praise God, without us even asking we are listed on a help line for food. Today this family came and we informed them that we had their food all packed but before we load it, we pray, and pray we did. Our ministry partner, Pamela Bower, has purchased sixty pocket new testaments to be given out to those coming for food on our Christmas distribution day. Pamela is a wonderful young lady who started the ministry with us back in 1993, she loves the Lord and He is first in her life. When we got our 501c3 corporation this past spring, Pamela became our Vice President. May God bless each step you take each day, Pam, as you walk daily in His light! Dolores and I love you very, very much.
Please storm heaven with prayers for a job for Mark. Mark needs something in downtown Harrisburg, or something along a bus line. Also speaking of jobs, pray for Tom Sansoni as he makes a very important decision, spend 4 hours a day traveling back and forth to a new job site or staying over on location. Tom's wife Kathleen has cancer and Tom really wants to be with her all the time.
Prayers for Phil and Jan Enloe as they sing, preach, teach, and witness at the Glenvale Church of God this week. Look at the website for Glenvale and go to church, soup and salad before church and then some good old fashioned revival services.
Docking The Boat 3: Genesis 8:6 - After forty days Noah opened the window he had made in the ark 7 and sent out a raven, and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth. 8 Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. 9 But the dove could find no place to set its feet because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark. (NIV)
So now the boat has docked in the mountains of Ararat and Noah and his family find themselves inside the ark, but need to find out when it is safe to lower the door. Let's face it, if you lower the big loading door down into the water, the water comes in the ark and the ark would sink. So we know that Noah wants things to be safe for his wife and family and all the animals for that is why Noah followed the commands of God when He built the boat. So Noah waited another forty days, before even opening a window. Think of how long that time seemed like. All the time in the ark and now we have it docked but still cannot get out till we find out if it is safe. Yes, that must have seemed like a long, long time. Why, I can remember back to my high school days, back when the old dead sea was just getting sick, and we would go to our homerooms for the last 10 minutes. First to our locker and then back to our desks and from the time I got back to my desk till the bell sounded, it seemed like ten years and it was just about five minutes. But Noah wanted to be safe so after waiting forty days he did not just pop open the big door, no he opened a window and sent out a raven to look around. If any sign of food can be found, a raven can find it. But nothing, the raven had to remain in flight, till the water went down. Then Noah dispatched a dove, God's little Bird, as we find out later in the Bible. The dove could find no place to land so it returned to the ark and Noah waited another seven days. It must have seem like forever and a day, but Noah was not going to endanger his cargo. He was a great follower of God, and even trusted God to be the ship captain.
Today so many people do not spend time to be safe, they really don't. I have seen kids that were practicing sports out on the fields when you could see lighting in the distance and you could hear the thunder. I have seen a company that wanted to get a jump start on a summer job at a school take all the bolts loose from the field lighting towers because the next day a chopper was coming to lift them down to be painted. But the winds came up, and yes, the kids were out on a field next to the football field and the winds brought down a light tower and it hit a student and killed him. Why was the student out on the field? It was the last day of school and the teacher was just killing time rather than giving them work to do. You see, people were just not taking time to care for what God trusted to them, HIS CHILDREN. Noah was indeed taking care of those God trusted to him.
Now think about this, what has God trusted to you to care for and to protect and are you doing it to please God or just doing it to get it done and/or doing what you need to do to get that paycheck? Please always take time to do your very, very best for God.
Dear Father in Heaven, we really want to please You and we want to carry our Your commands to us to please You and You alone and if we please You, dear Father, then we should be able to please everyone. Help us this Salvation Wednesday to seek out the lost and to bring them to Your feet. Thank You for Pam and please bless her in all she does. Bless Tom as he makes his decision and please heal Kathleen. Lord, as we go into this long and big run toward Christmas, may we do all we do in the name of Jesus, always putting You above all others and all else and may all folks remember it. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Now go forth sharing your blessings and caring for others the best you can. Be a worker for Jesus, but remember you can't work your way into heaven, you must really love and believe in Jesus. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
