November 1, 2010 Docking The Boat

Everything on the face of the earth was wiped out; men and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds of the air were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark. The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days.

Good Monday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. Today is the day we vote for our leaders, those in Washington DC and those in our State Houses and our local leaders. We also pray today for our veterans, our active military, our reserve military units, police, firefighters, and all of those who work so hard to keep us safe and healthy. Pray for your family doctor today.

Now let me say as we pray for our leaders today, please remember tomorrow is election day and I pray that you will pray before you go and vote, and please, please be a Christian at the polls and vote life. Yes, I said that, for I will say it again, I do not believe that you can be a Christian, which means Christ-like, and support abortion. So please find out what those you vote for think and stand for. WASHINGTON NEEDS A CHANGE, please make informed choices and really, really take time to pray about it (this message approved and written from the desk of Pastor Dan Lehman and is my opinion). Others thinking like me, weigh in with an Amen please.

Docking The Boat (Day 1): Genesis 7:23 - Everything on the face of the earth was wiped out; men and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds of the air were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark. 24 The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days.

So we start a new week and a new month with Noah and his wife and his sons and their wives and all those animals on the ark. You recall that during the messages of last week the ark door was closed and the springs in the ground broke loose and the water was coming up from the ground and the rains came and came and came as it rained for forty days and forty nights. Noah had built the ark just as God commanded him to and the big old boat floated on top of the water. I want you to really think about it now, after all that time making the ark and then loading it, your work for God is now going to be tested. Will your boat float, will your family be safe? Let me just take a little detail on that subject right now. If you have a job and I pray you do (and for those of you out of work, we are praying for you also), do you always do your job the way it should be done and do it to the very best of your ability, or are you one of those people who go to work and do the least amount you can do? Are you doing personal things on company time, do you take extra time at given breaks?

Working in the auto repair business for a long time, I can remember seeking out rattles in cars and remember finding a soda bottle one time inside a door panel. Some workers, not all, mind you, but some of them would do strange things to cars right before a strike. Surely in all we do, we should do it to our bests. I don't care if you are being paid the very least someone can pay you, or a very high wage, if you take the job, DO IT FOR GOD AND TO HIS STANDARDS. Work like Noah worked. If right now you are out of work, do not be afraid to take a job that is on the bottom of the wage list, take the job and work your way up. Do not be afraid to step into something new for God will help you in it. Do it like Noah did, after all, that was the first boat he ever built and he did it right, and don't let your age discourage you, for Noah was six hundred years old.

Let's move on now... So the rains flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days. Think about how long that would be inside the ark waiting out a storm. First the forty days of rain and then the one hundred and fifty days. How would we handle that today, gosh, no radio or TV news, no cell phone, nothing except your family and a farm three stories high and about the size of a really big football field including the end zones. I would guess there would be plenty of work to do, milking the cows and goats, maybe making things out of the milk, feeding the animals and cleaning stalls, yes, cleaning stalls. Those of you who have one horse and you take care of the stall know that is work, try cleaning up after two elephants. We have eleven little dogs in the house, some are blind, some wet their beds, some can't hear. Yes, we have a lot of cleaning to do daily, but we do not have all those animals and we do not have a cow and a bull in the house (not yet, anyway). We do have four goats, and yes, they are outside, thank you, and they require work. We have a prayer warrior on this line who is in the family farm business, her husband is in charge of the feeding of the animals, and the last I knew they were milking 2,600 head of cows three times a day. The wives on this farm are like the wives on the farms of years gone by, they have dinner ready for their husbands and they take care of the home. But that is nothing compared to all the animals in the ark.

Now this family is just floating around on the water and have no idea yet where God is going to be "Docking The Boat". I would think it would be by faith and faith alone that they did not go bananas inside that boat. If not for faith, and maybe they still did think about this... Is God still watching over them, they might be thinking, well, folks, how often have we thought that and we are not locked in a boat for all those days. I know that there are days when I ask God this... God, are you still there, I need you, I hurt Lord, help me Lord, and while I know deep in my heart that God will never leave me, there are times when the pain is so great that I yell out for God... GOD HELP ME, HELP ME GOD! And it scares Dolores really bad when I scream it out.

Tomorrow we are going to find out that God did remember Noah and those with him in the ark and how God took the water away... remember no storms sewers back then.

Dear Father in Heaven, I must admit that all those days locked in a boat would really test my faith in You, but I would like to think with Your help I would past the test with flying colors, but I know I would really need to lean on you. Let's face it, Lord, most all of us need to lean on you daily and to take one day at a time as you told us to do. So today help us to repent of sin and to stay tucked in with you in all we do. Be with those on our prayer lists, and Lord, watch over our elections and help us to make those choices that fall best with your feelings. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Now go forth sharing your blessings and caring for others. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
