"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."
"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him."
It is Salvation Wednesday on Day 3 of Salvation Week. And today there are also some very important prayer requests. First for families praying for other family members to be saved. I think ALL families have at least one family member they are concerned about or not sure of when it comes to being Born Again. And Dolores and I are no different, as we have concerns about some of our family members. We also have more than one family, for God has blessed us to pastor The Bridges of Bent Creek, and I also know that all of you are my family, all of you (please do not all come for dinner at once), and yes, I have concern that everyone on the line is saved. If I was sure in my heart you were all saved I could be writing about something else. Hopefully you will be sharing the messages of this week with others.
Other prayer requests today... For 16 year old Eli Olsen who was in a very bad car crash on Monday. He was air lifted to Hershey Medical where he is being checked for brain damage. For 80 year old Josephine Strawser who is being checked for a mass in her abdomen, please pray that there is no cancer. And pray for Martha Campbell and the rest of the family. Please pray for Pearl and her family today, folks. Prayers also for Vicki who had her knees injected yesterday. She is in a lot of pain after the injections, please pray the injections work. Please pray for the Christians living in Iraq as they have been the subject of bombings in the last few days. Remember in those countries, the Muslims want to kill the Christians and Jews.
Salvation Week: (Day 3)
John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:17 - "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him." (NIV)
Monday we talked about who needed to be saved, and I just want to add this. The only ones that really need to be saved, to be Born Again, are those who want to live on in heaven after departing earth. Those not interested need do nothing, and you will be put on the down elevator, which has but one stop, and that is in Hell.
Tuesday we talked about the fact we need to repent and turn from sin as we are forgiven.
Today we take a look at just why God has done this for us, why He has given us a way to LIVE.
FOREVER. Given us a way to get to heaven...
If I had to sum this up in just a word, I would say it was LOVE. Yes, God's love for us is why He sent Jesus, His one and only Begotten Son, to the earth to be born here, to live among us and to show us how to live, to set examples and to teach us, and then to die for us on the cross. God pointed me to scriptures that I had used already this week, John 3:16 & 17. Here are a few more scriptures that point out this love God had and has for us, and first one that tells us who will get us in to heaven...
John 14:6 - Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (NIV)
1 Timothy 2:3/6 - God, our Savior 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all men. (NIV)
1 Peter 3:18 - For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit. (NIV)
Romans 5:8 - But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (NIV)
Brothers and sisters, we, like it or not, we are all sinners, and we must repent from those sins and be saved by the love of God who sent Jesus to the world to live among us and then Jesus died for us, then of course He, Jesus, was risen from the dead, this to show us there is indeed life after our death here on earth. So with all the scriptures I used today and there are more of course that show how much Jesus loves us and how much God The Father loves us. God the Father sent Jesus to die to save us. So I ask you this fine day. How much do you love Jesus? If someone, and this could happen, if someone were to hold a gun to your head and say to you, "Do you love Jesus?", what would your answer be? Would you say, of course I love Jesus, knowing full well you might be shot on the spot? Or would you say, Jesus who? I am telling you, you might need to make that choice before we are called home. I would say this... JESUS, I LOVE YOU! For I know that if shot, I would be going straight to Jesus. Folks, how strong is your love for Jesus? Do you work for Him daily? Do you give Him time each week? Or do you give Him an hour or less per week?
Tomorrow we are going to confess to Christ our love for Him, we are going to be going to Christ in faith so that we know we are born again. Then on Friday we will wrap all of this up by finding out we indeed need to work for Him after being saved. Work alone will not get you into heaven, but after being saved we must go to work.
Dear Father in Heaven, thanks for Your love for us, and now, Lord, we need to show You just how much we love You. Lord Jesus, I want to grow in You, love You more and more each day till You call me home. Father, You have given Your son for us and we want to walk with Him. Today and tonight help us all on this line to review our lives and talk to You about our lives and our sins, and we all want to repent, so help us, dear Lord, with this, and Lord, please look over our prayer requests and honor them according to Your will and not ours. In the name of Jesus who died for me, I pray. Amen.
Now go forth this day and really pray about your past, for tomorrow we are going to Christ for a pardon and forgiveness and to come nearer to Him. Some might be coming to Him for the first time ever. And after we are saved we must do things for Him. One thing we can get started on is sharing our blessings. Will you share some of yours today? Love ya, Pastor Dan.
