November 5, 2010 Docking The Boat 5

Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. 21 The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in His heart, "Never again will I curse the ground because of man even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures as I have done."

Good Get to work in the fields of Harvest Friday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. Yes, it is Friday and the day we pray for all those who are working the fields of harvest for our dear Lord Jesus. Also today please pray for Patsy Emig who has CDIFF, and before you ask, I don't have a clue what that is. She is in the York Hospital. I need your prayers today, I caught something, I never could catch a ball, so I know what I have is "not a ball." (Maybe I am suffering from "sick joke syndrome".)

Docking The Boat 5: Genesis 8:20 - Then Noah built an altar to the Lord and taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in His heart, "Never again will I curse the ground because of man even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures as I have done." (NIV)

You notice that after God told Noah to come off the ark and and bring all on board with you. And of course Noah obeyed as he always had, and then the first thing he did on his own was to build an altar unto the Lord and do a burnt offering. Folks, did you ever stop to think that if it were not for our Lord Jesus going to the cross for us, we might still be killing off animals and burning them on the altar? God offered up His one and only Begotten Son to be sacrificed for us on the cross. (John 3:16)

Then God spoke to His own heart saying this, "Never again will I curse the ground because of man even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures as I have done."

Genesis 9:1 - Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth." (NIV)

After God blessed Noah and his family He gave everything over to them. Do you remember who else He trusted and gave everything to? Yes, Adam and Eve in the garden and it started right out with sin. But then God went farther on with Noah and his family and made a covenant with them. Here it is from the Bible...

Genesis 9:8 - Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him. 9 "I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you, the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you, every living creature on the earth. 11 "I will establish my covenant with you: Never again will all the life be cut off by the waters of a flood, never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth." (NIV)

So God made a covenant with Noah and with us, and remember that it was with us for indeed we are descendants of Noah. So what is the covenant with us? Listen to this, it is very important, God said, "I will establish my covenant with you: Never again will all the life be cut off by the waters of a flood, never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth." Please note here, that God will never again destroy everything with a flood, but He did not say He would not ever destroy the earth again. Now listen to this...

Genesis 9:12 - And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant" I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come. 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth. 17 So God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth." (NIV)

PLEASE NOTE The rainbow is a sign of the covenant between God and man and has nothing to do with the gay community. So please remember what the rainbow means when you see it. It is a reminder to God Himself what He has promised. AND SOMEONE SAID AMEN ON THAT SIGN...

Dear Father in Heaven, one of the prettiest things we can see is Your rainbow when You set it in the sky. Please, dear Lord, help everyone who takes in breath here on earth remember what the real meaning is. Lord, thanks for the messages of this past week and thanks for trusting all life to Noah, may we all work to keep favor with You. Bless and heal those on our prayer list. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Now go forth, sharing your blessings and working hard for God in all you do. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
