Dear Father in Heaven: I love You. What a blessed day You have given to me. Oh, Lord, it was all so beautiful I just cannot wait to tell others. Thanks, Lord, that the people in Harrisburg escaped from the burning home without injury, and praise You, Lord, it was not my classmate's home. Please keep Your loving arms around Pat as she works hard to help others by growing food for them. Lord, bless her garden of love as it has never been blessed before. Lord, thanks for supplying Bibles for us, and for places to give them out. And Lord, thank You for my doctor who loves You above all else. Please, Lord, watch over Dolores as she prepares for a colon test tomorrow afternoon. I pray for a good test result. Please help me now with the message and please help me to get it dispatched. In Jesus' Wonderful Name, I pray. Amen.
Tuesday: April 19, 2016: Caring and Sharing
Dear brothers and sisters, I was up very early today to head out to my family doctors. While getting ready at 4:30 AM a fire was shown in uptown Harrisburg, PA, on North 2nd Street. I prayed and later left for my doctor. I must tell you about this. My doctor, Dr. Lawrence G. Cox, DO, is a "Born Again," washed-in-the-blood believer who is not afraid to show it and talk about it. I arrived about 8:45 AM for my 9:15 AM appointment and loaded four "Read-N-Grow" Bibles and eight new Gideons' Bibles that were placed in our hands after being removed for some reason from a motel.
Before I even headed for the door I gave away one Read-N-Grow Bible on the parking lot. Once inside, I checked in and after gong to the old man's room (once I called it the little boys' room, but this little boy got old) ... anyway, I checked in and down the hall to be placed in a room for whatever I was to have done. The nurse checked me in and placed me in the room checking blood pressure and all the things nurses do. While in there I lined up the Bibles on the exam table waiting for my doctor. In walked an intern, and this dear doctor-in-training asked me all kinds of questions, and as I talked to her, and I never saw her before, we discussed Jesus, or I did. Then Doc Cox came in and I told him I had Bibles. He said I will be right back and took two of the Read-N-Grow Bibles to the rooms on each side of mine where I could hear children. Meantime I am getting ready to have both knees injected. Another nurse brought in the shots, and Dr. Cox injected one knee showing the intern how to do this and then on my other knee, he showed her what to do. I prayed a little harder!! She did fine. She was still wondering about the Bibles as Doc Cox had this second nurse put the Gideons' Bible in all of his exam rooms and the waiting room. Stay with me, it gets better. After the check-up was done, I grabbed my doctor's hand to pray with him and he told his intern, "Grab Pastor Dan's other hand," and she did, and I go to prayer over both of them. I don't know if this new intern is "Born Again" now, but in a few weeks under Doc Cox's care, she will be. Hang on, it gets better yet. Now out to get blood drawn and take a urine test. (I studied for that test the night before and nailed it.) After which, Doc said, come in and get breakfast. I was invited in the back room area where there was a feast like you would not believe. I had a big, and I mean big piece of veggie quiche, and I might be wrong on some spellings today. I also had real fruit cocktail and a big glass of orange juice. From there I went to check out and then out to my car for more Bibles. Back inside I go and gave them all away. Total, eight Read-N-Grow children's Bibles and eight used Gideon Bibles handed out in the name of the Lord. All honor and glory to our Lord Jesus Christ. It was eleven-thirty when I called Dolores and told her what I had to eat and I was concerned for she was prepping for that test an drinking the ugly-tasting stuff.
I got home safely and after eating, again, I checked in on my loving classmate who lives on Second Street. We updated each other about our health and she thanked me for our concern about her. My classmate is Patricia (Wells) Pierce. This dear lady has a really green thumb, meaning she has the "Touch of God" in her garden. Patricia is also "Born Again" and she is my classmate and I will not tell you her age, but I will be 75 in a couple of weeks. (See, I would not tell a lady's age.) While Pat still lives on Second Street in Harrisburg, she works one of those gardens to help the needy out off of Elmerton Ave. near the Pennsylvania Game Commission Building. It has been years since I was out that way and I might have my street names mixed up. But it is what is still going on.
My classmate is still working to help feed the poor!! We talked about the price of fresh food in the food stores and it is awful and some folks just cannot eat fresh things at food store prices. Here are two scriptures that fit both of these people. Read over them for a minute.
Psalm 65:9 - You care for the land and water it; You enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain. (NIV)
Proverbs 22:9 - A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor. (NIV)
In Psalm 65:9, I can picture Pat taking care of the land, watering it, and enriching it. As for the streams of God, that water is under the land, placed there when God created the Heavens and the earth for man (and ladies) to use and as for that grain, how about corn, tomatoes, squash, and all those good things in a fresh garden? And by this, she is feeding the body and soul.
In Proverbs 22:9, I can picture Doc Cox, for he is a generous man, and he is being blessed by God with a really big practice. He works hard, and we find him feeding body while working with God to be a doctor and feeding the soul with prayer and Bibles.
For me, God has really blessed me for I have both of them as my "brother and sister in Christ" and brothers and sisters, that is what it is all about. Please take time to talk to God, be caring to each other and share with others, and love each other. As for the scriptures, they both relate to both my brother and sister. And to bring out a point, Doc Cox and Patricia are a brother to each, and to my knowledge have never met. They are indeed joined by the "Blood of Jesus" shed on The Cross. Once again, all honor and glory to God, none for me, or Patricia or Doc Cox.
I love you, Doctor Cox, and I love you, Patricia. Your brother in Christ.
Please go forth now and share your love with others. Love ya.
Pastor Dan
