Hi, brothers and sisters. Pastor Tony Zang's son Tony was killed in a fall at his work. The couple that needs prayers, I have withheld their names. And Jarvis is the man needing prayers for his vision. Just a few updates. I have been having really severe computer problems, and after a tip that Wanda Crockett gave me, I contacted my cable company. I found out they will take care of all computers in our home for $6.95 a month. Our cable company is Verizon. Dolores and I also want to put out a call for a little help. We are looking for some people to take over some outside work. Example, you have heard me talk about our "Rock of Hope." We need someone to just take care of that small plot. Maybe once a month check on it and edge it after the first clean-up. Also maybe a group to look after the bank in front of the house. Maybe another to look after the rest of the front of the house. Neighbors are helping with some of the mowing and I can still ride my tractor mower. If you can help, please let me know by calling me at 717 991 0754.
Today I want to talk to you about some great disasters. So let me get started.
Sunday: April 1, 2016: Great Disasters
If you have been watching the news this past week and weekend, you would have read about some very major earthquakes in Japan and other areas. Hundreds have been killed and those big tidal waves that can come ashore and kill thousands of people could happen again. Over the years there have been great disasters right here in America. The earthquake years ago in California during the World Series. Also there was the great flood at Johnstown, PA, and the one in New Orleans a few years ago that got blamed on President George Bush. Also right here in Central Pennsylvania we had great floods of 1936, 1972, also 1975. It seems like the great disasters don't need to be real big, if they would involve us, meaning if it didn't happen to you or your family you don't think much about it. I remember a twister that hit near Campbell, PA, a few years ago, in fact, that one led to my meeting one really good friend, Tom Mozer, whom I married. No, I married Tom to Diane, and they made and make a great couple. But I want to tell you right now of the Greatest Disaster to this date. Are you ready for this?
Genesis 6:5 - The Lord saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was evil all the time. 6 The Lord was grieved that He had made man (meaning mankind) on the earth, and His heart was filled with pain. 7 So the Lord said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth -- men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air -- for I am grieved that I have made them. 8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. 9 This is the account of Noah.
Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God. 10 Noah had three sons; Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11 Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth." (NIV)
Dear brothers and sisters, the greatest disaster of all times was indeed the great flood when God caused it to rain for forty days and forty nights. I want you to think mostly right now of the people. Noah had found grace in the eyes of the Lord, so the Lord commanded Noah, along with his three sons and their wives, to build an ark. And we have the advantage of knowing the complete story of this Great Disaster and that is what it really was. A GREAT DISASTER, and the sad part about this Disaster, it did not really need to happen. It happened because of great sin among all people. I want you to think of this event. Millions upon millions of people died, only eight were saved. Think about it, brothers and sisters. ONLY EIGHT PEOPLE WERE SAVED out of millions.
Now comes my question for all of you today, and no, we are not going to have another great flood. More on that later this week. But if a disaster occurred today and you were taken, would you perish and burn or would you go straight to heaven? If an earthquake hit today in your area and your home fell in, where would your soul go, Heaven or Hell? The other day, a couple driving their car, one came the other direction, lost control, went airborne and landed on the other car. One lady lost her life. Was she saved? I pray she was. Do you see where I am coming from? Please don't wait for a disaster to occur in your life. Please give it over to God right now. Again I am going to close with a sinners' prayer. I can't pray it for you, only lead you. Please join me now.
Dear Father in Heaven: If You should come right now, I want to be with You. I confess right now that I am a sinner and I ask that You clear me of my sins and You wash me white as snow with the Blood of Jesus. I believe You died on the cross to save me from my sins and I believe that You were risen from the dead. I have faith in that and I confess it with my mouth and believe it in my heart. Save me, Jesus, save me. I love You, Jesus, and I pray in Your wonderful Name to Your Father and our Father in Heaven. Amen.
Now go forth and know you are saved, that you are indeed "Born Again" and share the Word of Jesus with others. And yes, here is a song we sing often. Love ya.
