And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of His servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me, Holy is His name. His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation."
Good Salvation Wednesday Morning to all you, my dear brothers and sisters. Oh my, it is cold here at the Southern Location of the North Pole, but I am not complaining for God is good and this too shall pass. I have not heard from my classmate, Bobbie, who lives in Florida, but according to our weather, you need not head to that state to get warm. Anyway, please today pray for the unsaved and pray that God uses each of us to lead in the lost. God is good and once we are saved, that is when the fun begins, for now we are working for God and not the other side. Praise God for He is good. Bless His Holy Name. Praise God... Let's get to the message.
The Big Trip 1-3: Luke 1:46 - And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has been mindful of the humble state of His servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, 49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me, Holy is His name. 50 His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation." (NIV)
I know that yesterday I told you we were going to be talking about Joseph today but God said to me early this morning, not yet, we have some more work to do with Mary, the expecting mother of Jesus.
As I look at the scriptures that God pointed out to me this morning I see just how Mary feels about being the mother of Jesus, but moreso I think in just being a servant of God and doing what He wants done. If we look at verses 46 and 47 we see that Mary is saying her soul glorifies the Lord and her spirit rejoices in Him... So how can our souls glorify the Lord? I think that the best way we, our souls, can glorify God is to not just go to church and raise your hands and sing praises to God, but to go out and live for Him in all we do. Not just talk about it but live it. You have heard that actions speak louder than words, and that is true. Folks, if we, and we meaning you and me, would get out our Bibles and read them and just follow the lead of our Lord Jesus, I think our actions will glorify the Lord, or it will glorify Satan. Yes, our actions are going to glorify God or the other guy, they will show where we really do stand. So I ask you again today, where do you stand? You have a choice, you cannot be a fence sitter all your life...
Moving on in the scripture Mary said that God was mindful of the humble state of His servant. What comes flying out at me is that Mary was ahumble servant of our Lord God. Do you humble yourself to God, are you humbled but what He does in your life? Even in our working for God, we need to be humble, we need to be sure that God gets the glory for our lives and the things we do and not we ourselves.
Then Mary knowing that she was very blessed to be chosen to carry the Lord Jesus in her womb and to also help raise him after his birth with the help of Joseph, of course. Mary said it this way as recorded in Luke and in the Bible that I use. "From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me, Holy is His name." And yes the virgin Mary is honored over and over again, and more in some churches than in others. Mary was indeed blessed and the Lord did great things for her as the Bible tells us. But it was not always easy on Mary for she had to watch as her son was beaten and then hung on the cross, but she also got to see all that God planned for Him, and also got to witness her Son, Jesus, being raised up from the dead.
Now Mary also tells us that we need to fear God, and that if we fear Him, His mercy will be with us. "His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation." Now I know of people who say you do not need to fear God for He is all loving, and to that I say, you better get back into the word, for our all loving God is powerful and it is He who really has, in the end, the say over us. We have full freedom, we have freedom of choice, but we need to fear God in all we do. To fear God is to live in harmony with His will for us... Not always easy but needs done. Amen.
Dear Lord, on this Salvation Wednesday I ask that You, well, Lord, to use a term I have heard often, put the fear of God in all of us, so that we follow Your will for us... Help us this day to walk in Your light and let others see Your light in us, and help us to find the lost and bring them to Your feet. And Lord, thanks for the blessings again yesterday on our ministry to help others. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Now go forth, living for Jesus, walking in Your light, and showing respect for others, including Mary, the mother of Jesus. Honor your parents and your children, honor your neighbor and of course honor God. And yes, I must say it... Share those blessings. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
