Dear Father in Heaven: I love You and I give thanks to you for another day here on earth, and Lord, what a beauty You have given to us. Thanks for softening the blow of Storm Patricia hitting Mexico. Lord, please watch over Vickie for she has fallen. Please be with all the others who have sent in requests for prayer as they have fallen. Please, dear Lord, bless me now with another message and then please help me to get it dispatched. Thanks again for loving me. I am unworthy but I do appreciate it. In Jesus' Name, I give thanks and pray. Amen.
Brothers and sisters, what was your assignment today, and did you get it done? I want to get right to the Bible today to see who else God gave assignments to besides us and those we have covered.
Saturday: October 24, 2015: Assignments (Day Four)
Some of those who received assignments from God were angels. For this, back to the scripture of yesterday.
Luke 1:26 - In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary.
Luke 2:8 - And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord." (NIV)
We find here in scripture that the angel Gabriel was dispatched to talk to Mary, and also, although unnamed, it was more than likely angel Gabriel that was also dispatched to make the announcement about the Birth of Jesus Christ. When I look at this and see assignments that God has given to man and woman here on earth and that He still gives to all of us, I am happy that I enjoy doing the assignments for Him here. With God handing out assignments to angels, it makes me think that even after we are at home with the Lord, we will have assignments to do for Him. And like the assignments we have now, they surely will be "Heavenly." When I think about our assignments, it reminds me of the title of a great song. Let us sing this one. The Assignments, well, "It is Well With My Soul."
It is Well With My Soul" (H. G. Spafford & P. P. Bliss)
When peace like a river attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll,
whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say
it is well, it is well with my soul.
It is well with my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul.
Tho' Satan should buffet, tho' trials should come,
let this blest assurance control,
that Christ has regarded my helpless estate
and hath shed His own blood for my soul.
It is well with my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul.
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought,
my sin, not in part, but the whole,
is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more,
praise the Lord, praise the Lord, oh, my soul!
It is well with my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul.
And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
the clouds be rolled back as a scroll.
The trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend.
Even so, it is well with my soul.
It is well with my soul
It is well, it is well with my soul.
It is well ........ with my soul ........
It is well, it is well with my soul.
Dear brothers and sisters, do you feel like that? Whatever your assignments from God, they are well with your soul? And your earthly assignments might not always be well with your soul, but if they are right with God and legal with man's law, give them your very best shot.
Now go forth and serve Jesus and please do it with a Jesus smile on your face. Love and Blessings.
