Monday 10/26/15 Assignments (5)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You, and I give thanks for a beautiful Sunday and a great church service where hundreds came forward to be saved. Please be with all of them this day and hold onto them tightly. Father, thanks for sending Jesus to die for us so that we could be saved, and Jesus, thanks for standing in and dying for me on the cross. Thanks for cleaning me with Your blood Oh, I just love You so very much. Thanks, Lord, for giving me the ability to forgive and also to love all others. What a great blessing You are. Please, Lord, help me to reach someone in Your Name this day. Please, Lord, watch over Dolores and carry some of her pain. Please, Lord, help me with the daily message and then please help me to get it dispatched. In the wonderful Name of Jesus, I give thanks and pray. Amen.

Good Monday morning, my dear brothers and sisters. What is your assignment or assignments for this day? You know it is a lot of fun on some days to look back to the days of my childhood and try to remember some of the assignments that my Mamma gave me to do. I loved her dearly, but some of those assignments. "It is time to go to bed, remember to wash behind your ears and to brush your teeth. DON'T JUST WET THE BRUSH." How did she know? And as much as she knew, our Lord God knows all that we do and even worse than that, He knows what we are going to do. Over the years I am trying harder and harder to follow His assignments above all others and above all else. Today I want to look at an assignment that is for all of us and maybe another that is listed in our Bibles. Please, as you pray today, take time to pray for our veterans, our current military, our police and firefighters, and our first responders, regardless of the title they carry. Let me get to the message.

Monday: October 26, 2015: Assignments (Day Five)

Mark 13:32 - "No one knows about the day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor The Son, but only The Father. 33 Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. 34 It's like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. 35 Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back -- whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. 36 If he comes suddenly, do not let Him find you sleeping. 37 What I say to you I say to everyone, 'Watch!'" (NIV)

Brothers and sisters, one assignment that we are NOT assigned to do is to try and figure out when Jesus is going to come back for all who are saved, come back for His bride. Our assignment from God is to be ready for whenever that time might be and to tell  others that good news. As we can see in our scripture for today, no one knows the time of the return of Jesus, not even Jesus Himself. Our assignment is to "Be on Guard!" "To be Alert!" We are to keep watch and in fact that is mentioned a couple of times in just these few verses. In verse 35 "Therefore keep watch." And in verse 37 Jesus said, "What I say to you I say to everyone, 'Watch!'" And of course while we are on Guard, being Alert and Watching we also should be Carrying His Word to others.

Yesterday morning Dolores and I had church in our living room. We start out doing our daily scripture from "Our Daily Bread." Then she goes to the piano and plays some worship choruses and I get some singing in. (Please say some prayers for my voice. I am sort of losing it.) After that we turn on Jimmy Swaggart Ministries for their live church service. Yesterday grandson Gabriel was to preach, but the Holy Spirit took over the service. During the singing of Amazing Grace people started to come forth to the altar and get on their knees, confessing themselves over to Christ. The Holy Spirit got stronger and stronger and more people would come forth. An altar call had not yet been given. Pastor Gabriel went with the Holy Spirit and decided not to peach. Soon he was also in tears and then he called others who wanted to come to Christ to come forth. It was a great service and his sermon, well, he will preach that another day, I hope. He is a really good preacher and pastor.

But why bring this up? I just wanted to point out just how right in the middle of an assignment that Christ gives He might just change up His mind. When we work for our Lord Jesus, we must, I say WE MUST be ready to make that change right on the spot. I know when working with bus drivers years ago, I had to make a lot of last minute changes on assignments and those who worked under my watch were for the most part ready and willing to have assignments changed. Sometimes and more so in bad weather, they would see changes in assignments coming and go ahead and make the changes knowing that Bob (my assistant) and I had their backs.

When we need to make a change in assignments that God has given us sometimes we might not even have time to pray about it. It could come up just that fast and we need to make a change on our own. Rest easy knowing that Jesus has our backs on that also. Witnessing to a lost person comes to my mind, if we put it off we might not get another chance. Don't be afraid to witness to others. It is an assignment from God and since you are working for Him, He will carry you through it and even give you the tools to get it done. AMEN.

One more today, this from the Bible and done by a man who said he was unworthy of taking on this assignment. The man was "John The Baptist."

Matthew 3:11 - "I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire."  (NIV)

As you see in this scripture John was baptizing people and also telling of the coming of Jesus. He was telling the crowds that He, John, was not fit to even carry the sandals of Jesus. Jesus tells him different and we will look at that tomorrow. I wanted to bring this point out just a tad today so that you see regardless of how you might feel about working for Jesus, in the eyes of Jesus "you are worthy." You are indeed worthy.

An assignment from me to you this day is this. Go to your mirror and look in that mirror and say to yourself, "I am worthy, Lord, in Your eyes, Lord, I am worthy, so please give me an assignment." None of us thinks we are worthy of what God did for us, but God thinks we are, and brothers and sisters, HE IS IN CHARGE. Someone please say Amen.

Dear Father, Thou Art Worthy, but there are times I think I am not worthy of what You have done for me and what You still do for me. Thank You for trusting me and thank You for thinking I am worthy. I love You and I pray that all others reading this line today pray for forgiveness and become worthy and know that You love us all. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Now please go forth serving Jesus and being upbeat about your assignments from Him. Love ya.

Pastor Dan
