Dear Father in Heaven: Thanks for a great day and thanks so much for the much-needed rain. Lord, I want to praise You for the job You furnished Jim Orner and praise You for this line and all who it is reaching. Please, Lord, on this our Salvation Wednesday, help us to reach out to others in Your name and help bring them in to be saved. Please, Lord, place Your healing hand on the following this day. Vicki for pain -- Glenn Gamber for infection or another unknown problem. Ray Orner Sr. -- surgery to open an artery in his neck. Barb who is having a procedure. Shirley Oiler, double pneumonia, and Jamie Smith, a stroke. I love You, Lord, and thank You for all things good, which, Lord, today that would have been all things. Lord, please protect this line and please help me with the message and then please help me to get it dispatched. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Dear brothers and sisters, today a blimp got loose from its tethered location outside of Washington, DC. It was trailering a long cable and hit power lines along the way. It finally came down near Bloomsburg, PA. I understand it got too far from Washington, DC, and "ran out of HOT AIR." Okay, after you laugh, I know they are not filled with hot air and I am thankful no one was hurt. All glory to God for that.
I got a nice note from my dear brother in Christ, Tom Sansoni, who loves when we do some singing as it lifts his spirits. Thanks, Tom, singing lifts mine also.
After doing a lot of thinking and some praying and research, I was trying to find someone in the Bible who made assignments for himself to do. I found one. I got to thinking all my years as a supervisor I assigned myself to things, but I had people over me who also assigned me things to get done. Even when owning my own business when I did most of the assignments, I had others assign me things to do. Like the tax people, etc. So this got interesting to me. Who would be the only one who need not take an assignment from someone else? Let us go to scripture and find out.
Salvation Wednesday: October 28, 2015: Assignments (Day Seven)
Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 AND GOD SAID... (NIV)
Dear brothers and sisters, please take time to sit down, or lay down and curl up with your Bible and go right to the beginning and read the creation story. I am not going to type all of that out for you. After thinking and thinking and praying about who would be the only one that could make an assignment for Himself and no other party would be changing it, or while He was working on it would change His assignment, if I would have been praying and praying about it then thinking about it, I would have come up with the answer faster, but again, I start out thinking and looking before I talked to God about it. When will I or we ever learn to start out with God? It sure would save us some work.
So we find out right away in scripture that God The Father assigned Himself this assignment. Then He used one tool for most of creation, that tool now has become one of the most wicked tools known to man. Any one of you know what tool was used the most in Creation? You don't? Then go and reread the story. I am not going to tell you until tomorrow. I feel like singing. I do know this, God did creation quicker than He made me. Here is a little song that talks about that. Let us go out singing again today. Tom will like this one.
He's Still Working On Me (Joel Hemphill)
He's still working on me to make me what I ought to be.
It took Him just a week to make the moon and stars,
the Sun and the Earth and Jupiter and Mars.
How loving and patient He must be! He's still working on me.
He's still working on me to make me what I ought to be.
It took Him just a week to make the moon and stars,
the Sun and the Earth and Jupiter and Mars.
How loving and patient He must be! He's still working on me.
Dear Father in Heaven, thank You for making all that we have that is good, and I do thank You for not giving up on me. I love You more and more each day, and I am really learning to appreciate that You indeed still have Your hand upon us all. In Jesus' Name, I give thanks. Amen.
Now brothers and sisters, go forth loving and sharing Jesus and please take sometime to sing and be happy. Let us sing this just one more time.
He's still working on me to make me what I ought to be.
It took Him just a week to make the moon and stars,
the Sun and the Earth and Jupiter and Mars.
How loving and patient He must be! He's still working on me.
