Monday 2/9/15 Harvest 2

Dear Father in Heaven:  Please forgive me of my sins and help me to repent of them.  Lord, our hearts are heavy today as we pray for one of our readers whose son has taken his life.  We trust that this man is now in Your care and custody and our prayers go to his family.  Please comfort Barbara and her family in this time of sorrow.  Please also place Your healing hands on Barbara, Burt, Jan, John, and Johnny, also on Laura and Don Coffin.  Praise to You in the safe travel of the tiny K-9 who traveled the skies to his new home.  Praise also for the healing of John's knee after it has been replaced.  Lord, please help me as I work with Barbara.  Guide my heart to the correct scriptures.  Help me now please with the message of today and then to get it dispatched.  In Jesus' Name, I give thanks and praise and ask my prayers.  Amen.

Brothers and sisters, please  note that I will never post a last name when someone takes their own life.  I ask you to pray hard for Barbara and her family who have lost their son who was 52 years old.  We have many Barbaras on this line, and the one who lost her son has been notified of course, so you other Barbaras do not need to worry that it is your son.  Please pray for peace and comfort as only found through our Lord Jesus.  The Johnny listed for prayers is a nine-year old with migraines and eye problems.

Now let me get going on the daily message, Harvest.

Monday:  February 9, 2015:  Harvest (Day Two)

Genesis 8:22 - "As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease."  (NIV)

I more than likely will upset a few people over this message, but that is nothing new for me.  Let us take a look at our first scripture.  This is a promise made to Noah by God our Father.  Please note it tells us as long as the earth endures!  This means to me that there will be an ending again.  The promise made by God to Noah was that He would never again destroy all the living creatures BY WATER!!  In fact, He made the promise then set a rainbow in the sky, and the rainbow is to remind Him, meaning God, that He will never destroy the earth again with water.  So sad to see that rainbow hijacked by the gay community and used as their symbol.  I would bet that most of them do not even know what he rainbow stands for, or maybe they still are looking for a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.  Well, let me add this, if you love our Lord Jesus and are saved, you might not find a pot of gold, BUT YOU WILL WALK ON IT!  SOMEONE PLEASE SHOUT AMEN!

Now let's look at the next scripture.

Proverbs 10:5 - He who gathers crops in the summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is a disgraceful son.  (NIV)

This scripture is very clear that we are to go to work for the Lord.  It appears several places in the Bible about how we need to take care of the poor, but it also tells us that those who will not work should not eat.  Let me be very clear about this, we workers and followers of Jesus need to help the poor and needy, taking care of those who CANNOT work.  But those who WILL NOT work should not be eating.  Having a food pantry, we have helped a lot of both of those groups, and we should always help unless we know for sure that we are helping some "system riders."  I do know that in the end God will sort it out.  More on that another day.

Now our final scripture for today.

Luke 10:1 - After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of Him to every town where He was about to go.  2 He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of harvest, therefore to send out workers into His harvest field."  (NIV)

Once again we see in Luke the scripture almost as that which we looked at yesterday from the book of Matthew.  Here we see that he appointed seventy-two others, so if my math is correct, that would be eighty-four that were going out ahead of Jesus to spread the "Good News."  Once again the Lord told them "the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few."  Oh, I am going to get into trouble for this next statement and questions.  How long has it been since your church parishioners went out working together telling the "Good News" about Jesus and asking people to come to church?  Come on, how long has it been?  Can you even remember?  You know, we laugh at those Jehovah's Witnesses and the Mormons, but other than those two churches, who else have you seen walking the streets?  And have you noticed it is always two by two?  Oh, we have the jokes, what do you call two bicycles locked to a street sign?  Answer, a Mormon parking lot!  Think about it, brothers and sisters, how long has it been?  I know of at least one church that once had a great Vacation Bible School but it stopped because they no longer had any children coming to the church.  However, this church is within walking distance to several mobile home parks that are loaded with kids.

Brothers and sisters, try walking to your refrigerator and opening the doors and then just praying, Lord, please put the harvest from the fields into my fridge.  Then be sure to step back and watch as God fills the old icebox.  Brothers and sisters, it just does not work that way.  We need to be going into the fields of harvest.  People can stand at the exit of a mall and put a sign up, hungry, need food, or will work for food.  We have kids working the corners in traffic, which is against the law, collecting money for different things.  What would happen if you would stand at the exit of a parking lot with a sign "free Bibles" and instructions on how to use it?  No laughing matter, my dear brothers and sisters, time is running out.  Now for my daily question.  Are you saved?  Are you born again?  Please do not put it off.  Will you pray with me today?

Dear Father in Heaven.  Please forgive me of my sins.  Today, Lord, is the day, and I want to be born again.  I do believe Jesus was born of a virgin, died on the cross, was risen from the dead and will judge me someday.  I believe it.  Please, Lord, today save me.  In Jesus' Name, I ask this.  Amen.

Now go forth and share your blessings.  Love ya.  Please share my love also.

Pastor Dan

P.S.  Just in, please pray for Dave who fell backwards and hit his head.  I have been asked to hold back on the last name for now, but I will tell you it was not Dave Fortney.
