Thursday 4/3/2012 Promises From God 12

"Come follow me." Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."

Good Thursday Evening, my dear brothers and sisters. It is still Thursday and the day we pray for churches, schools and families. Also please keep praying for Vicki as she recovers from knee surgery. Please remember to pray for the one and only church of Jesus Christ. And as we pray for pastors, please pray they get their Bibles out and start preaching and teaching from them. In other words, support your words by the word of God coming right from the Bible. Please remember the Support our troops rally on the steps of our state capitol on Saturday at high noon. I hope to see you there. Let's get to the message!!

4/3/2012 Promises From God (Day 12) Matthew 4:19 - "Come follow me." Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." (NIV)

How about this scripture for a great promise of God. What Jesus is saying to us here is, if we follow Him, He will put us to work for Him. He will teach us how to bring in the lost to His feet to be saved. Once again as we look at the scriptures we must remember that Jesus is still the same today. Let me tell you when I heard that call, pick up your net and follow me. It was 1:25 PM on December 24, 1990 when I was hit by a car while sitting in traffic on Route 22. I was on a motorcycle and in my Santa Suit. As plain as day while laying on the street I could hear Jesus saying, pick up your bike and follow me. Already being saved I then knew it was time to really get serious about working for Jesus. While Jesus might call you to lay down your nets and follow Him in a much different way than He did me, you can rest tonight knowing that He wants you to follow Him, and when you do, He will for sure make you a fisher of men.

Let's look at another one of the Promises today. Just one more... Did you know that Jesus wants us to be perfect... Yes, we are all sinners, and people will say, and I am sure you have heard this saying, there was only one perfect one. And while that is very true, it is not what Jesus really wants, He would just love for us to be perfect.

Matthew 5:48 - "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect." (NIV)

God has created us in His image, He wants us to walk in His light in all that we do, and He hates sin... So, yes, He would just love it, if we were perfect. When we walk daily with Jesus, it is very hard not to mess up, for Satan wants to throw things under our feet so we slip and fall. When you get up tomorrow, no, let me state that again, when we get up tomorrow, let us pray first and then try and walk perfect in the eyes of God as He wants us to do. How long can we make it, one hour, two hours, 5 minutes... Just how long can we stay perfect in the eyes of Jesus? Brothers and sisters, this is not bragging or boasting, this is what He wants for us. He wants His children to be like Him... And let me ask us all, do we not want our children to walk together in step with Jesus so they stay out of trouble? Amen.

Lord, as I try my hardest to be perfect in Your eyes, it seems I fail even before I get out of bed each day. Please help all of us to do better each day walking with You. We want to strive to do it the way You want it done... Hear our prayers this day on our prayer lists and honor them according to Your will for us. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Now go forth and share your blessings. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
