How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news. Who bring good tidings who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "your God Reigns!"
Good Morning, my dear brothers and sisters, what a wonderful morning here at the Southern Location of the North Pole. Tuesday and the day we pray for cures for all those ailments. As we do that we add to our prayers for healing from colon cancer, Rachel, and you can read the update on Allison who we pray for who HAD cancer. Also we pray for cures for heart related things, and please put me on this prayer list (to our children on this line, God will heal this). Just came back from the doctor, and my heart was flipping out, said the top and bottom were not working together. Heart tests are being scheduled, but I am praying God gets there first. Please keep praying for Ron, for Eleanor, for Pearl, for Vicki, (six days till major surgery). Praise report from Charles Wotring, about Janet, each half day is going better and better. THANK YOU JESUS.
Good News (2) Isaiah 52:7 - How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news. Who bring good tidings who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "your God Reigns!" (NIV)
Isaiah 61:1 - The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the Poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for prisoners. (NIV)
I am not going to talk at all this week about any bad news, nothing, zip. It will all be good news and the best place in all the world to find good news, you should find in your own home, as you will find it in your Bible. If you do not read your Bible daily, why not start today? Pick a subject and read it, read it again and again if you don't understand it, and by all means, pray before you start.
Glenda, a wonderful lady who is a prayer warrior on the line and a good friend of mine, has asked me to write about a scripture, and I am working on it, but it has not been easy. I am sure when God is ready for me to write about it, He will open it up.
Good News, even in the Bible where it accounts for Jesus going to the cross, that is good news for we who love Him. Think about it, dying on the cross, good news, yes indeed it is. Let's take a look at the scriptures that God has given me for today. Isaiah 52.7 - How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news. Who bring good tidings who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "your God Reigns!" (NIV) This scripture talks about those who bring good news and is also a reference to messengers who ran from the scene of a battle to bring news of the outcome to a waiting king. I want you to think about this, think about Jesus being The Waiting King and He is waiting and watching for His children to come to Him. Yes, we are all children of God, but many have not come to Him. By the way, and we will get into it more, but it is our job to get that GOOD NEWS about Jesus to the wayward ones. And our King Jesus is sure waiting to hear that good news. Even the good news of us working for Him, not just being saved but really working for Jesus.
The second scripture I used Isaiah 61.1 - The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because The Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the Poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for prisoners. (NIV)
To this may I add this, "Me Too". Pastor, think about it, this is one of the things God calls on us to do. God has anointed us to preach good news to the Poor, and yes, when we get a chance to also preach to the ones who have a few dollars... But when we look today at some churches, have the pastors really done what they were anointed to do, or did they really not get the anointing? (Bold, aren't I?) Think about it, all those big beautiful churches in the city and how they were when they had people going there with money, but when the poor and those of a different color and/or race came to the city, churches did not invite those folks in. Here is a good example of where those who had the money should have helped the poor, and kept the church running so the poor could be fed, both the Word and grub. So when I look at what Isaiah said -- "The Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the Poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for prisoners." -- I must say, me too, although I have not reached out to the prisoners, I reach out to retirement homes and nursing homes, and while it might sound bad, some of those folks are prisoners of health problems to a point they need to live as they do.
Dear Father in Heaven, You have anointed me to work for You and Lord, THANK YOU. I pray today that others will also want to take the good news about You and spread it. Lord, be with all those on our prayer lists, and thanks for Your touch on Allison and also on Janet. Lord, thanks for blessing this line, please keep it going... in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Let's grow again, I was told once about business, that you grow or go, meaning we grow it or go away from it. With that said, please feel free to invite others to join this line. Now go get sharing on those blessings and spread the good news and spread it thick. Remember the update on Allison below. love ya, Pastor Dan.
It is a beautiful sunny day!! Allison is at college taking classes. (Yes, Messiah has classes on Labor Day!) Andy has about 10 friends here at the house enjoying a slip and slide party using four 40 foot tarps end to end with lots of water!! As I listen to the chatter of teenagers and their innocent laughter, I absolutely thank God for today and the joy I feel as the mother of Andy and Allie!! He carried us through the valley and we are enjoying the benefits of a "normal" life. We are so blessed to have a home, health, friends and family.
Allison is back to school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and loving every minute of it!! She is probably doing a little more than she should before the last chemo is given. As a nurse and a mother, I worry about her long days at Messiah and her risk of getting sick before the last treatment. She has a stuffy nose but I think it is the change of seasons and allergies. I feel her head all the time watching for a temperature. She attended the first Outdoor Club meeting at Messiah and ended up signing up to kayak!! So yesterday she went kayaking on the Susquehanna and had a blast. Nothing is going to hold this girl back!! She is living life to the fullest and she is also thanking God for every day and every opportunity.
Just this morning Allie and I read an e-mail from another mom who contacted me last week looking for advice. Her daughter is 23 and has colon cancer. She wanted to know what type of treatment Allie received and I gave her some names and phone numbers to call. Mostly I shared as a mom how frustrating it is to not know where to go for treatment and to not be able to see God's bigger plan. We are praying for her daughter, Rachel to have healing just as Allison did. But this morning as I kissed Allie good bye on her way to classes, I realized even more how blessed we are!! My heart aches for this mom. I have been where she is. Being told that the tumor is too big. Hearing that the chemo did not shrink the tumor. Finding out that surgery is not an option unless chemo shrinks the tumor away from the artery. Please pray for Rachel to have complete healing and pray for peace that passes understanding for her mom.
