June 7, 2010 Patience in Suffering

See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop.

Good Monday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. Thanks for having patience with me over the last week and more as I readied for the big bus fling. If you would like to see some pictures of the buses please go to www.busmuseum.org. Now let me get back to working for God this morning. Monday, and a beauty it is, the heat wave broke at our home yesterday afternoon, and now the sun is coming up. God is so good to us. As we pray on this Monday, please pray for our troops, our leaders and all others who work to keep us safe and sound. Also pray for the mother of Beverly and Donna as she has been taken to the hospital, she only weighs 85 pounds. We know God can also heal our land after we mess it up. Please pray that He stops the oil leak, also pray that He will teach those doing the drilling how to do it safely. Pray also for those who were hit by those bad storms over the weekend.

Patience in Suffering. James 5:7 - Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. 8 You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near. (NIV)

In today's world, we (we=you and me, or most everybody) we seem to have no patience in anything. When we decide we want something done, we want it done yesterday. The Bible talks about the farmers, so let us take a look at we who backyard farm. We get all excited about spring coming, the winter's over, if we get a few warm days in March we try and get that garden earth turned and we are thinking planting, and how often I have planted too early just to lose my plants to the frosts. Always seem to be in a hurry, get those plants in the ground and then we worry about that frost. Then we keep looking for the first fruits to appear. Then the day comes when we see that first tiny tomato and we get excited and we watch it and watch it as it grows, and then we watch it to get ripe. We just have no patience at all and it is with most things we do. Seems like we are so busy and now I am speaking for myself... I find myself not sitting down taking enough time with the Lord. I had a talk with God last night and again this morning asking Him to work with me as I need to get back to the basics more and more. Even on this line it seems I am not waiting upon the Lord as I once did. It is like, Lord, please give me a message now. So today I asked Him to start me fresh today, letting me be patient, and He sent me to the book of James.

Folks, it seems we let ourselves get so busy we don't have time for things we really need to do. We need to take our time. We need to wait upon the Lord and work with Him more and more each day. Each day seems so packed full of things we must get done, and we want it done right now. On the work place it needs done now, in our personal life we need it done now. If we go out to eat and we are taken to a booth we think the wait staff should be right there, even if we make them wait. No patience... Let's today ask our Lord to give us more patience in all we do, and moreso give us more patience in dealing with others. I have asked the Lord to give me more on this now that He has pointed me in this direction today, and I have also asked Him to work with me more out of James and also about our faith and our prayers in faith. So brothers and sisters, let's have faith and patience today and also this week. Take your time, be loving to others, be forgiving and get the fullest out of each day that the Lord gives you. I myself need to start writing things down and stop going in circles as I do things. As we get older we must make each step count, and again we must have patience in all we do. Let's pray.

Dear Father in Heaven, thanks for another day of life, and please let us start to have patience in all we do. Lord, let us walk and talk with You in all we do and let us know we are aside of You and You are holding onto us. Lord, help me each day with a message and let me know what You want me to do in Your name. Help us to keep You on the front burner and in all we do, do it for You. Help us now this day, and Lord, I pray for all those on our prayer list, and please Lord, be with Beverly, Donna, and their brothers and family as they walk this walk with their mother. We ask for healing for their mother. We ask also today that You take care of our troops, our military, our police, firefighters, and all others who work to keep us safe and healthy. And Lord, anoint us this day to do Your work, and again, thank You for this beautiful day, for indeed it is the first day of the rest of our life. Thanks Father... In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Go forth now sharing your blessings with others, being kind to others, and forgiving others, and also forgiving yourself of any past mess-ups. Yes, it is important after we pray and have God forgive us that we indeed forgive ourselves. More forward and be patient in it... love ya, Pastor Dan.
