June 2, 2010 What's in a Name 7

"I am the Good Shepherd."

Good Salvation Wednesday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. I am getting an early start today and it looks like it is going to be a really nice day. So far so good, I woke up, I am still on the green side of the grass. Praise God for a good start. Today is the day we pray for Salvation for the unsaved and we pray that God will use us to lead in the lost. Please remember that we are workers for God, we cannot save a soul, that is up to Jesus. We also should not be judging the past of those we are working to save. Maybe a good idea before we go out looking and seeking out the lost would be for us just to remember what all we gave over to Jesus when we got saved. Do not, I say, do not dwell on it for it is gone. But remember, except for Jesus, everybody has/had a suitcase full of junk. The difference between the saved and the unsaved is, we who are saved do not carry that suitcase anymore. (Sounds like a message in there... The Suitcase)

What's in a Name? 7: John 10:11 - "I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep." (NIV)

Wow, what a great name for our Lord Jesus, the Good Shepherd. And brothers and sisters, we are the sheep of His flock. One of my favorite pictures is the one with Jesus holding the lamb that He left the flock for. Since I have been saved I look at that picture and I can see me in the arms of our Lord for there is no doubt in my mind that I was lost, I was really lost, but NO MORE.

The little shepherd... Now again I am still talking about names here and the little shepherd, let me use that name for all those who work the fields of harvest for the Lord and have been entrusted flocks. Pastors, that would be us, Ministers, Preachers, Priests, Nuns, Lay Leaders, Gospel Singers, whatever the other name might be or the title that you use, one good name for all of us is "the little shepherd, and our leader is... Yes, He is the Good Shepherd, our Lord Jesus...

John 10:12 - "The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.
13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep." (NIV)

Brothers and sisters, the Good Shepherd, our Lord Jesus, will never abandon, He will stay with us always, however we abandon Him from time to time. We think we can make it on our own, and then we fall and we need to come back. And you know the real good thing, when we ask, Jesus will take us back. Now let me look at that verse again... this time as a little shepherd. Are we from time to time guilty of abandoning the flock? If we do we are indeed turning them over to Satan. Pastors and other workers in the fields, it is not always easy, it really is not. But hang in there, for the rewards we are going to get will be great. Praise the Lord we have the Good Shepherd to call on.

Also folks, all folks, and remember this, all God's people can call on the Good Shepherd, even if they do not belong to a "large flock" (church). However, I think all folks need the support of a Good Bible-based education at a really good church. Let me get one more name today...

Matthew 2:6 - And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. (KJV)

Wel,l with all the ads we see now for those political officers I want you all to note that we have our Governor and His name is Jesus. Yes, our Bible gives us another great name for our Lord, and that name is Governor for He shall rule the land. Governor Jesus, gosh that sure sounds much better than governor (put your own state governor in this space) and I know another thing here for sure... Governor Jesus will never ever lie to us, never... Amen.

Dear Father in Heaven, guide our feet, our hands, our body and our mind this day and put us to work in the fields of Harvest for you. Thanks for all You do for us. I am sorry, Lord, I am running tight this week. Please forgive me... In the name of Jesus. A
men.

Now go forth, loving others and sharing those blessings God has given you. How are you going to share the blessings today? Love ya, Pastor Dan.
