"Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."
Salvation Wednesday, my dear brothers and sisters. Our midweek time to pray for the unsaved and for God to use us to help round them up for Jesus. Jesus really needs our help with this.
Breaking news this morning: Iran has fired off yet another missile, the long range type. We need to be praying for our brothers and sisters in Israel. Our president will more than likely "make another speech." Christians, be ready to stand tall for our Jewish brothers and sisters. Let's face it folks, we are from that background.
The Journey 11: Luke 1:26 - In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. 28 "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."
29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. 31 You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High." (NIV)
Today, my dear brothers and sisters, I want you to go back in time with me, and ladies, put yourself in the shoes of Mary. And gentlemen, I want you first in the shoes of Gabriel and later into the shoes of Joseph.
Gentlemen, we have been given a task by our Lord God to go to Mary with a message. Remember we just got back from going to Zechariah and giving him the notice about his forthcoming son who is to be named John... Ready, guys? Here we go... Lord, you want me to do what? Come on Lord, I just was on a road trip, why don't you send another angel? What is wrong with Michael going? I mean I have rights here, I will be out over 8 hours and more than likely more than 40 hours this week and I have a contract and I want it honored. I want time and a half or double time. I just am not going to be pushed like this. I am going to go on strike!! Wow does that sound like something that happens today when the boss asks someone to take on a special assignment?
But wait guys, this is the Lord asking, and when the Lord asks us to do something for Him it means He has found favor in us. Remember Noah, how God came to Him and asked him to build the Ark? Sure, we just talked about it. Today I ask all of you men, If God were to ask you to do this, you would do it, right? Sure you would, but what about all the other things God asks us to do? You know, like sharing our blessings, and taking the good news to others. Oh and how about this one... following the commandments, and here is a real good one... Heading up our homes! Amazing when I put it like this, isn't it? Yes, we would love to think that if God asks us to do this simple task of relaying a message we would do it. But is it not the same thing, relaying a message, that God has asked us to do when sending us out with the good news... (Mark 16:15)? Monday I was home during the day and down in our food pantry putting things back in place after a busy Saturday and getting ready for tomorrow. Two gentlemen appeared at my door, which was wide open, dressed very neatly in black suits, and long black overcoats, one carrying a briefcase and looking like secret service guys. I invited them in and we sat and chatted about Jesus and about the food pantry and the work that is going on. We talked and prayed together. I asked them if they might want to bring food together for our mission. Then we formed a circle and prayed one last time. All joining in at once, and we closed the prayer in Jesus Name. Yes, I just sat down with two of my brothers from the local Kingdom Hall. I don't know who witnessed to whom the most, but I know we all love our Lord Jesus. The other week I talked to two young lads who were Mormons. Never, and I will say this again, never has there been anyone from any other church stop at my door. All of us need to take a few lessons from this, not just the men. We need to be doing what God asks us to do, not just if we like it. And we need to be reaching out with the good news of our Lord Jesus.
Ok, men, tomorrow I will address the ladies and talk about how they might have felt. Then on Friday I will wrap up this segment of the Journey for next week we start out across the lands with a donkey in tow.
Dear Father in Heaven, Lord, thanks for sending those two men to our home the other day, I thank You for the message that they were bringing and the fact that they were out working for You and it was indeed the good news about You that they were sharing. God, You are wonderful and I pray for these men as they journey in Your name. Lord, teach us today to be answering Your call in what You want done and not in what we want to do. Lord, bless this line and please keep it open as long as You want me to be writing. Lord, help us this day walk in Your light, and touch us, Lord. Lord, I have a cold and I need Your hand on it so I can sing for You. Shield others from my cold and my cold from others, Lord, watch over all of us on this line. And teach us to share Your love, working the fields of Harvest looking for the lost to bring to You. Help us on this day we call Salvation Wednesday. Open hearts of others so we might speak to them. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Share your blessings folks, share them the best you can... and then share them some more. God is love folks, and He does love you, listen to Him... listen to Him. Love ya, dan.
