Tuesday: The Journey 15

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.

Good Tuesday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters, and it is Tuesday and schools day on this line, so please pray for all of our schools and all who have anything to do with them. Remember please those who drive those big yellow buses (and the little ones).

The Journey 15: Luke 2: 4 - So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. (NIV)

Today I am going to ask you to put your feet someplace I never asked you to put them before. I have asked you to put your feet in the shoes of Noah, his wife, Zack, and his wife, and Joseph. Now before I ask you to put your feet in the shoes of Mary, I am going to ask you to well, put your feet in the hoofs of some animals... Yes, what might have that donkey been thinking while on the trip with Mary on his back, and what about some of the other animals in the barn? Let me talk like a donkey here for a bit... N0 SMART REMARKS THANK YOU!! As we all know the other name for the donkey.

Here I am minding my own business just eating some hay while resting in a stable at the woodshop of Joseph, my master. He comes out to the stable and of course old Joe, he likes me and takes good care of me. He said as he stroked my head and scratched me behind my big ears... I need you for a few days and I have a special job for you. I am thinking, he wants me to go out in the cold, but he does always take good care of me. He then said to me, I must go sign up to pay taxes and I must take Mary along and she is about to have a baby. I want you to haul Mary on your back and you must do it as smoothly as you can. You must be serious on this trip, no jumping around and no sitting down to rest. I will be walking ahead of you so if you want to close your eyes and rest as you walk that will be ok. By the way, my pet, Mary is going to have a baby who will be the King of all kings... Ok, boss, I will do my very, very best, you can count on me.

So I went and did some bragging to a camel and a horse how I was chosen to haul Mary and her baby. Now as I am walking with Mary on my back I am now wondering if that cross on my back has a meaning or if I was just born with those colors. I started to wonder also about the sheep that I share the stable with at home and how when they have lambs, how pretty they are. Now I have heard something about this new baby being the Lamb of God and am trying to picture this in my mind. Is Mary going to have a child that looks like a Lamb? I will need to listen with my big ears and see what I can hear. Do you know if I do not Hee Haw so much and keep my mouth shut I will learn some things? Gosh, people need to learn that, maybe I can find a way to tell them...

Well folks, the trip is going good and when we arrived in this little town I was tied up outside while my master took his future wife Mary into the Inn. Soon they came out and they took me around to the stable. I knew that my master would do that for me to get me out of the night air, but then it happened. He put me in that barn and then he started to gather up straw and hay and first he made a bed for Mary, and then he made this little tiny bed, he used a feed box and put clean straw into it. You know, I never heard it so quiet in a barn. The cow did not moo, the horse did not whinny, the camel did not do, well what camels do. And the sheep did not baa. Even that big old chicken was quiet as she laid an egg. It was so quiet that the mouse was not even stirring... No, I am not going to say anything about out on the lawn, but I will later for the lawn is going to get busy.

Ok, now you heard a bit from me... what do you think it might be like to walk on all fours and carry the Lord? After the baby is born, I will be back to tell you about the event... have a nice day. I must stop now and talk to God... He made me, you know.

Dear God, I love You, and I want to thank You for making animals like our donkey that not only did Your work then but has helped man do work from the start of time till this very day. Thanks for dogs that sniff bombs, and dogs that lead the blind, and thanks for cows that give milk and chickens that lay eggs. Lord, what I am saying is thanks for supplying our needs through others, some of them being animals. Thanks for giving us control over them. Lord, please bless our schools and I want You to know that we on this line want You in our schools. Thanks for hearing us this day... In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Folks, the donkey just whispered in my ear... tell those folks to share their blessings, and that I love them also. I want them to know that I was and am the Lord's animal and really do not like my job in Washington DC. I am not a "party" type animal. Ok, so I had trouble getting out of the donkey mode. And yes, share those blessings. Yesterday four more families stopped in for food. I will give you an update on numbers soon... love ya, dan.
