Tuesday 11/3/15 Assignments (11)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You, and I give You all honor and glory for another beautiful day and for answering prayers along the way. You are so great and wonderful and all  honor and glory to You for answering those prayers. Lord, we do have a few new prayer requests today for healing of Justine and for Julie. We want to praise You for Glenn being up and walking and we ask that You keep Your hand upon both Glenn and Marie and their family. Dear Father, without You I could not even begin to write messages. Please, Lord, bless me again today with a message and please help me to get it dispatched. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters, two new names on the prayer list, Justine, who is our granddaughter, and Julie, who is our next door neighbor. Justine is going for tests tomorrow. Please keep her in prayers. Julie, our next door neighbor, a single mother of two teen sons, fell and broke her ankle. So pray, warriors, pray. Well, it was election day, and as we vote, we must remember that in all things God is in control. If I told you all the prayers that were answered for Dolores and me today as we traveled I would need to write a book. But I must tell you about a couple. Dolores and I went to vote, and coming out of the church where we vote we saw State Rep. Steve Bloom. Before he was elected for  his first term a year ago I was in the yard on my tractor mowing lawn. He came behind the house and I prayed for him and anointed him with oil. Today we talked about it and he was with another State Rep. I do not know his name. The other one said I need prayers also and right there outside in front of God and all  those coming and going to the polls were four people in a circle praying and two were state reps. PRAISE THE LORD, no one can tell us not to pray when or where we might be. When someone asks for prayer, grab their hand and do it. And all of you can do that. I do want to get to the message on Assignments, and today our earthly assignment was to vote. But what about one from the Bible? Come on, let us look.

Tuesday: November 3, 2015: Assignments (Day Eleven)

Matthew 6:15 - "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?" (NIV)

Well, brothers and sisters, the assignment to go vote was sure a lot easier to do than the assignment we get from the Bible. I mean we got up today, and yes, that is not easy anymore, to get up, get through a shower and get dressed and get out early, or at least not easy for us. But when someone tells you not to worry, well, that is a hard one. More so I think if you have children. While I know I have written about this in the past, I mean this one is hard.

Do not worry about your life, Jesus tells us. Well, I think we do all worry or should I say have concern about our lives, but all the worry cannot add a day to our lives. I mean while that is true, we still worry or have concern. When you have children you have these concerns about them as they grow up. You think when they leave home the worries will stop? No! They grow, however, as a parent, your concerns never go away, you always have these concerns. If you have parents, you are concerned about them also. Sometimes you can only pray for them and be there if they need you. Other times you can find ways to help. And these concerns grow. As a pastor, I have preached on this, I have told people to lay down the burdens and give them over to Jesus. I myself have been to the altar of churches with concerns and worries and laid them down, and it seems when we get back up we reach down and pick up the worries and take them with us.

Learning to trust Jesus to carry our worries and concerns is very, very hard, but we who believe know it is always best, and we should be praying for His will to be done. I can remember standing in a cemetery one day getting ready for a graveside service. I looked at the grace which was open. Then the funeral director pulled up and family gathered. The smallest casket I had ever seen was brought, inside two one-day old twins. Oh, this funeral was so very, very hard. Why, Lord, why? I said over and over again. Yet it was His will. There around that small casket I got to tell all those gathered about salvation. You see, those babies were already with Jesus, and my job became to tell others about salvation. Still I am sure not much comfort to the parents and grandparents and other family members. So we must learn or do our very best to put FULL TRUST IN GOD and try not to worry. Easier said than done, but we for sure must try. That day, all those gathered came to Jesus, as we prayed the sinners' prayer.

Hold tightly to Jesus, brothers and sisters. It is the best ride we will have until we get to heaven. Just one or two verses of this old hymn today.

Trust and Obey, John H. Sammis, 1846/1919, Daniel B. Tower, 1850/1919

When we walk with the Lord in the Light of His Word,
what a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

But we never can prove the delights of His love
until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows and the joy He bestows
are for them who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
or we'll walk by  His side in the way:
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go.
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Dear Father, please help us to learn more and more each day to trust You and to obey You in all that we do. We just need to lean on You more. Help us. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.

Now go forth and please walk and trust Jesus. Love ya.

Pastor Dan

One more time.

Trust and obey, for there's no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
