Dear Father in Heaven: Thanks for waking us this day and thanks for watching over us during the night. Dear Lord, we are so blessed and I just want to thank You for all You do for us. Dear Lord, please be with Matthew and heal him. Be with the family of Sally Oiler as they gather for her services. Lord, please be with Glenn and Marie and bless all their family. Please help me now with the daily message and please help me to get it dispatched. And Lord, thanks for these days when we can still have the heat turned off. I give praise and pray in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
Dear brothers and sisters, what great weather. Hard to believe that it is November and I am still in shirt sleeves, no jacket. I put my snow plow on the truck and put it in the garage ready to go. I would love it if I never had to get it out. Anyway, please pray for the family of Sally Oiler. She went home to the Lord. Yes, she was saved. I had a great day on Sunday. Up early, had church in our living room, did a little work outside and came back in to see Jeff Gordon win the NASCAR race. I started cheering for Jeff years ago when he was really working for the Lord. Fifty-three days until Christmas. I've got to get the sleigh out. With that said, I need to get to the message.
Monday: November 2, 2015: Assignments (Day Ten)
Malachi 3:8 - Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. "But you ask, 'How do we rob you?'" "In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse -- the whole nation of you -- because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessings that you will not have room enough for it." (NIV)
One of our biggest assignments in life is to pay our bills. When we make earthly debts we need to pay for them. In life, I don't know how many times I have purchased something and was struggling to pay for it and had to sell something else to pay the bills. Often, and I guess this would be a confession, I would purchase cars and then sell them. Sometimes I would make a bad purchase and lose money. Other times I did well and made money. Anyway, we try hard to pay those assignments or contracts we sign on earth.
One assignment that we have from God is to pay Him, and you can see that very clearly in the scripture above. We are to bring the whole tithe into the storehouse. So what is God's storehouse? Just your church? No!! God's storehouse can be a lot of places. We are to be feeding the poor, so we can give to food pantries (please remember our food pantry is closed, so if you choose to fee the poor, find another or ask me and I will refer you to one). We support a lot of places spreading out those dollars. Example, today we called in to the Bible Thon at Jimmy Swaggart Ministries and sent out Bibles. By the way, their children's picture Bible is great for the little ones. Another thing I want to bring out is when it comes to tithing it is the ONLY place in the Bible where it tells us we can test God. Please read Malachi 3:6 through the end of Chapter 3!
In the first testament it talks about 10% tithe. In the second testament it calls for us to be a cheerful giver. I can remember being taught that by my mamma as a child. Then one Sunday she gave me a nickel and a dime. "Danny," mamma said, "One of those is for the collection place in Sunday School, and the other you can spend after church." When I got home from Sunday School and she got home from church, she asked me about the money. "Danny, what did you do with the offering, and why?" Mamma, knowing what you taught me, I put the nickel in the offering and spent the dime at the drug store after Sunday School. Mamma, if I did it the other around I would not have been cheerful. Brothers and sisters, that is a true story.
One other thing, if you pay your bills first, there is not always any left for God, but if you give from the top, or set back from the top, you will find it works so much better.
Dear Father in Heaven, You have blessed us well. Lord, may we always remember to give to Your work so that Your message can get out to the world. In Jesus' Name, I give thanks for what we have and ask You to guide our giving. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
Now please go forth and serve Jesus. More on assignments tomorrow. Love ya.
Pastor Dan
Here is a short chorus to keep you singing.
Holy Spirit, Thou Art Welcome (Dottie Rambo, David Huntsinger)
Holy Spirit, thou art welcome in this place.
Holy Spirit, thou art welcome in this place.
Omnipotent Father of mercy and grace,
Thou art welcome in this place.
Holy Spirit, thou art welcome in this place.
Holy Spirit, thou art welcome in this place.
Omnipotent Father of mercy and grace,
Thou art welcome in this place.
