Dear Father in Heaven: I love You very much. Please forgive me of my sins and help me to repent, turn, and walk away from them. Dear Father in Heaven, please bless this day, our veterans, and also, Lord, our present military. Please also bless our President and keep him safe as he travels in the summit. Please, Lord, watch over Burt and Patsy and help Patsy keep working for you even as she lives in a retirement home. Be with Bob Everhard and his family in the home-going of his wife Peggy. Be with the members of Young's UM Church in their outreach ministry to children. Lord, thanks for the food we brought in today for the food pantry. What a bounty You furnished to us to be given to the needy. Lord, please help me prepare for the message at the funeral on Friday, and Lord, please help me with the daily message and to get it dispatched. Please, Lord, help us find our son Matthew. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Hi, brothers and sisters. What a wonderful, beautiful day here at the Southern Location of the North Pole. Grant and I headed out to Mutzabaugh's Food Market to pick up an order for Carry The Light Food Pantry. We had a load on the ministry trailer, and all worked well. After the trailer was off-loaded, Grant and Wanda put up our Nativity Scene that they made. It truly was a blessed day as only our good Lord could bless it. Please pray for the Everhard family as Wife, Mother, Grandmother Peggy was promoted into Heaven after a long, long time with Alzheimer's disease. Happy Veterans' Day to all you veterans and thanks for serving our country. Thanks to my dear wife, Sargent Dolores Cook Lehman, and friend and Army veteran from Vietnam Grant Crocket. Also my son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Dian Lehman, Navy and also grandson Daniel Lehman, Navy. On this Veterans' Day, let me get started with the message.
Tuesday: November 11, 2014: What's In a Name? (Day Two)
Luke 10:1 -"I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2 The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep. 3 The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all h is own, he goes on ahead of them and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice." 6 Jesus used this figure of speech, but they did not understand what He was telling them. 7 Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9 I am the gate, whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. 11 I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 I am the Good Shepherd; I know My sheep and My sheep know Me. 15 Just as the Father knows me and I know the Father and I lay down My life for the sheep." (NIV)
I typed out a lot of scripture and I pray that you will take time to read it. I wanted to bring out on this day about our Good Shepherd. Our Good Shepherd was very willing to lay down His life for us. We are His sheep and the sheep of His Pastures. Our Lord Jesus knows each of us, His sheep by name. He knows not just our Name, but He, our Lord Jesus, knows What's in that name. Meaning, He knows us s His sheep and He also knows if we have made a good name out of our name or trashed it. While He loves us all, He really wants us to make a good name by falling in Love with Him. When we fall in Love with our Lord Jesus and we come to Him, when we sheep come to Him, He will take our name and clean it up.
I want to bring up another name today and it is another name for Jesus, and What's in this name?
Hebrews 13:6 - So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid, What can man do to me?" (NIV)
One thing each of us needs in life is a helper. There are just some jobs you cannot get done or even start by yourself. And there is no better helper that we can have than to have Jesus as a helper. But you are saying, hey, that was back then when Jesus walked the earth, but what about now? Look here, at one of my most loved scriptures.
Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (NIV)
Brothers and sisters, I love Jesus and I pray each day I can fall deeper and deeper in love with Him. It is the most wonderful feeling to be falling in love all over again with our Lord and Savior. So What's in a Name? I will tell you right now you will feel better about yourself and about the name you made for yourself if you indeed have messed up that name if you call on the name of Jesus. Why not come back here tomorrow, on Salvation Wednesday, as we look more at What's in a Name, and take time to clean ours up.
Now go forth and share your blessings. Love ya. Please share my love with others.
