He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth.
Good Tuesday morning, my dear brothers and sisters. It is raining here at the Southern Location of the North Pole. I was up early this morning, 3:30 AM, got my shower (so I don't stink) and was off to the Antique Car and Bus Museum at Hershey Pa. The AACA museum as it is known puts on a food and toy drive for Carry The Light Ministries each year. This morning WHP TV did a live shot about the food pantry... Praise God. We emptied their truck once already and it will get emptied again this week and again before Christmas. Can we all say... GOD IS GOOD. I would like to change the baseline of our prayers this morning. Let's start praying for Pastors and their flocks. This is the time of the year when some people make it to church who do not come as a rule. Let's pray that Pastors do not miss the chance to preach on Salvation. We don't want to be so centered on just the Birth of Christ, but we also want to remember why we had the birth, why God sent His one and only Son. "Jesus was born to die so we might live."
One small ad, we need workers for December 17th arriving at our home about 12.45 PM to be ready for our distribution that starts at 1.00 PM. We don't just need car loaders but we also need prayer warriors, and we need a couple of people to work the traffic on the street.
The Journey 2011 Day 23: Luke 1:14 - He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, 15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth. (NIV)
Brothers and sisters the man who will be a joy and delight to his parents is none other than John, who we know as "John The Baptist."
As we take a quick look at today's scripture, I once again ask that you look over Luke, starting with chapter one. And read through the Birth of our Lord. One of the things that really stands out to me is how this child will be a joy to his parents and that others will also rejoice his birth. We are to rejoice in the birth of John, but also look at what the Bible tells us. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit right from Birth... Would that now be nice? Wow, how would you like to have a baby come out of the womb, with his hands in the air and instead of those first words being Mamma or Dada, it would be PRAISE THE LORD! Think about it folks, filled with the Holy Spirit right from birth. Could you see this child today going to school and being the "Weird O." Folks, as you well, know a lot of people think we who raise their hands to the Lord are strange, and I admit, if to be in love with Jesus means I am strange, then folks, I am strange. If it means that people think of me as a Weird O because of my love for Jesus, so be it. It does not make a difference how many names people call me because of Him, but please do not call Him names because of me... Do not put Jesus down because we love Him, folks, Stand up for Jesus, stand up for Jesus... One other thing about this man we call John the Baptist. He is NEVER to take wine or other fermented drinks. Folks, there is a good example of why we should not need to drink. Folks, you will save a lot of money if you have your Christmas parties without booze and you will remember it better and have no next day hangover.
Let's pray. Dear Father in Heaven, forgive us this day of our sins, and Father, we might not have been born with the Holy Spirit in us, but Lord, we want it in us now, come over us, dear Lord, and flood our souls with Your love. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
Now go forth sharing your love of Jesus with others, shout it out like John the Baptist did... and remember to share your blessings. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
